The web development space is increasingly becoming important as mobile and other digital technologies continuously evolve. Forrester, the research firm, sums it up very nicely with this quote: “The software you deploy, and especially the custom software you create, will increasingly be part of your competitive edge.” If you think about it, almost everything is now web-based. Your enterprise’s ability to build software solutions for this web-dependent world plays a crucial role in the overall success of your business. So, how will your enterprise make use of enterprise application development to achieve a competitive edge? The first step towards it is to keep up with the emerging trends. Comprehend what’s coming up, and strategize accordingly. Now, let’s dig deeper to understand as to where is enterprise web application development heading in the coming year? Developer focus shifts to application security: As per a recent report, 69% of web apps are plagued with vulnerabilities that could result in sensitive data exposure. The same report found that 25% of web apps are still vulnerable to eight of the OWASP Top Ten, a list of the most critical (yet fixable) application security risks. A majority of the app security risks on the OWASP Top Ten are not new. They were around for over a decade. Each of the app security risks and fixes is quite common. However, several enterprise applications are not safeguarded against these common security threats. But why does this happen? Why do enterprises build applications that have commonly known vulnerabilities? A majority of the issues boil down to priorities. In some enterprises, management considers application security as an afterthought while placing more focus on app speed, performance, and agility. Whereas in other cases, the developers lack the appropriate app security knowledge and training. With data breaches and leaks becoming increasingly prevalent, and the risks of circumventing app security continue to rise, it is likely that the focus will primarily shift towards app security. This will induce changes in security priorities and training budgets. More development shifts to end users: Low-code development, Citizen development, or Self-service development. This particular trend goes by various names, and there’s no denying to its growing popularity. But what does it mean and how does it matter for your business? According to Gartner, “A citizen developer is a user who creates new business applications for consumption by others using development and runtime environments sanctioned by corporate IT.” But what’s driving its tremendous growth? There are a couple of trends that are encouraging it. First, it’s because of an increasingly digital business world. More and more focus is placed on digitizing mobile applications and processes to compete and stay on the front in this digital world. However, one of the best ways tech companies can drive this digitization is with the help of self-service platforms. And then there are progressive web apps. There are many other trends that revolutionizing the enterprise app development space. If you know of any other enterprise app development trends, supplement it to our list using the comments section below.

Organizations are starting to scale their cloud native operations. And as they do, the inefficiency of managing dozens of isolated clusters has become an evident problem. As the clusters continue to sprawl, businesses must unite diverse workloads onto shared infrastructure. This is because companies need better resource utilization and centralized governance among other things. But it is imperative to remember that going from a single tenant to a multi-tenant environment need

It has been for everyone to see the short product lifecycles and a pressing need for rapid technical scalability that have come to define the modern startup ecosystem. For early-stage companies, the challenge is no longer just conceptualizing a solution. But they must also carry it out with enough precision to withstand high market volatility and fierce competition. We know that internal teams concentrate on core business strategy and fundraising. That still leaves us with th

In today’s regulated and data-driven environments, organizations are under constant pressure to ensure that temperature and environmental conditions remain within defined limits. Even small fluctuations can result in product loss, compliance violations, or operational downtime. As a result, many facilities are moving away from manual checks and standalone sensors and adopting comprehensive environmental monitoring solutions instead. An environmental monitor provides rea

Organizations have come to rely heavily on large amounts of data in today's competitive markets. But to what end? For starters, to inform strategic decisions and power machine learning models. It goes without saying that the value of these digital assets is completely dependent on the accuracy of the underlying data. So, when data is fragmented or inconsistent across departments, you will obviously have inaccurate reporting and operational inefficiencies at your hands. This c
