“How do you motivate yourself and stay motivated?” is one of the questions I pose to the accomplished people whom I interview. These very accomplished individuals know something that many do not know. They are all self-motivated because they are doing what they love to do, so they just do it. Yes, they do work hard, but because they have a vision and purpose, are doing what they want to do, and are having fun doing it, the time flies. People who have attained professional success in all areas of their lives - economic/financial, social, health/wellness, business/career, and personal - are very passionate about what they do and know and understand why they do what they do. At the start of each day they are rearing to go, and enjoy the act of living and just being. They have a unique ability to tap into that deep well within to fuel their internal flame when necessary. And at any point in time they have whatever they require. Because success is not only about money, but about quality of life, they have great relationships with family and friends, and are better able to integrate their personal and professional lives. Accomplished individuals recognize that no one succeeds alone so they have an advisory team, people in their sphere of influence who hold them fast to their vision so they are less likely to veer off their path. So, how do you get what these successful people have? Attaining personal and professional success is not always easy, but if you are self-motivated, your chances for success are much higher. To have what accomplished people have, requires a life makeover. The right questions, the right answers
  1. What are your vision, mission and purpose in life?
  2. Are you doing the things that give you joy?
  3. Are you living a purposeful and fulfilled life?
  4. Do you love what you are doing? If not, why not?
  5. Does your work feed your soul?
  6. Do you know and understand why you do the things that you do?
  7. Is your job only for the pay check?
  8. If money were not object, would you be doing what you are now doing?
The answers to these questions are indicators for what you should and should not be doing in life. Who is on your advisory team? There is truth to the saying show me your company and I will tell you who you are. Are the people in your circle of influence help or hindrance? Life giver or life taker? Be intentional about choosing advisors, your results will reflect your choices. Reconnect with you Take time to reconnect with yourself because you are the guru on you. Only you know what you will require, and what your true intentions are. When you reconnect with you, you automatically know all the answers. What baby steps could you take, so that one year from now you are self-motivated and are doing what gives you joy? Do you need help getting started? Who could you call on for help to get started?
