The Universe Is As It Is

Question: If everything is as it should be, what is, is, (Seven Spiritual Laws of Success), was Nazi German SUPPOSED to happen? Are all the horrors of life SUPPOSED to be? I am confused. I cannot reconcile Hitler's Germany as something that was supposed to be because " the universe is as it is" and that's all there is to it. Can you please address this? Answer: It goes without saying that tragic events such as the Holocaust caused unspeakable pain and that we can learn from this and other atrocities to take all measures to prevent them from recurring. But taking the horrors of Nazi Germany as an example of how we should come to terms with everyday life is problematic because the subject is so radioactive with pain and suffering that it is hard to dispassionately return to the actual point in question without seeming to minimize how horrible the Holocaust was. In this case I believe you are mistakenly connecting the ideas of recognizing something as a fact—“the universe is what it is,” with the ego judgment—“this is the way the it should be.” To my way of thinking, they are utterly separate and different concepts. To see the world as it is, is to not overlay a story on it that it should be one way or the other. When you live your life through the filter of the judgment that reality isn’t measuring up to your expectations, then you are no longer living in the present moment, you are living in the past and future. When you simply accept what is there before you as a fact, without judgment, then you are in the present moment and that is a much more effective and powerful place to live from.
