In the early 1900’s, soon after Americans began working shorter hours and found themselves with a greater disposable income, theme parks around the nation experienced a golden age. Americans suddenly had more time for entertainment, and extra money to spend. Back then, amusement parks were also smaller and often family operated. They were hometown entertainment, more often a carnival than what we now think of as theme parks. This newfound golden age eventually ended, but America’s love affair with theme parks has hardly died. Eventually, as smaller theme parks collapsed around the nation, conglomerates saw opportunity and moved swiftly, bringing to bear spending capital inconceivable to even the wealthiest of families of the time. With these vast resources, they were able to accomplish a new level of entertainment previously unknown to the smaller family-owned amusement parks. There is no better demonstration of this than Disney, who created arguably the greatest theme park of all time. It is now considered the iconic American family vacation, often the crowning jewel in a child’s early life. And it has not been just Disney to capture this newfound magic. Other theme parks have managed to breathe life back into the magic of theme parks, bringing America to unprecedented levels of family entertainment. Few childhood memories are so cherished or reminisced over as much as the iconic American family’s vacation to Disneyland, Sea world, Six flags, and local nearby theme parks. The Family Adventure These days theme parks are more than just a vacation. They can be a youthful adventure, a family vacation, a romantic getaway, or a simple day of entertainment. That is what makes them the entertainment extravaganza they are. Dad might want to go on the scariest roller coaster, mom might want to just stick to the merry go round, and the kids might want everything in between, but nevertheless there are rides for everyone, for the whole family. And it’s more than just amusement rides. Disneyland offers fireworks every night, a magical castle to explore, and a whole cast of characters to charm and delight the family. There’s fine dining, gift shops, beautiful gardens, vendors of every size and shape, and enough square footage to keep the family walking and exploring all day. There are animals on display, pictures to take, and memories to shape. And often it all starts with a family bonding road trip. The Adventure Begins Sometimes the best part of the vacation is overlooked. The travel to get there, though often underrated, can be the most bonding of the entire experience. Whether going with the entire family, a significant other, a group of friends, or even solo, there’s no quality time like the open road. More and more people across the nation are beginning to understand this, and more and more of the public are including the trip as part of the overall vacation plan. And what better way to travel than by RV? It lets the whole family live and travel in comfort, giving everyone the space and closeness they need. It is both travel and home, all in one. Go ahead and look at those RVs for sale by owner or the used RVs for sale and enjoy your getaway today.
