Some people are always chilly, and others never seem to feel the cold. It’s all a matter of personal preference until these two people try sharing an abode and can’t agree on a temperature. Whether the person you live with hates paying the gas bill or just feels warm all the time, you need to find a way to live with the cooler temperatures. Here are four of the challenges that come with sharing your home with such a person along with how you can resolve the issues. 1. It’s Hard to Get Motivated Getting up in the morning is hard when you’re warm and cozy in bed and you know that the room will be freezing. It’s also challenging to get up and leave the couch when you’re cocooned in a warm electric blanket. Remind yourself that you’ll warm up as you get moving, then make the commitment to stay active once you’re out from under the covers. You just might wind up with a cleaner home as a result. 2. The Chill Never Leaves You’re chilled outside and you feel even colder when you finally get back into the home. You could argue your case and turn the heat up, or you can learn how to layer up. Just putting on a thin T-shirt under your sweater will allow you to preserve more body heat and feel more comfortable. Remember to cover your feet with thick, cozy socks to make your body heat easier to regulate. 3. One of You is Always Uncomfortable One of the challenges is that one of you is always uncomfortable. Either you’re too cold or your partner is uncomfortably hot. Consider getting a little space heater that you can use right near your chair in the living room. You can also put an extra blanket on your side of the bed so that you’ll both be comfortable. 4. You Agree that the Environment Matters Even if you both agree to keep the heat down because you’re trying to lower your carbon footprint, you still might be uncomfortable with the temperature levels. However, you don’t have to freeze in order to limit your impact on the world. Make the home more airtight by adding insulation and sealing gaps. Then, have an energy efficient furnace installed by Mr. Reliable Plumbing & Heating so that you can maintain a cozy home while using less energy. You can share your environment and still be comfortable. The challenges can be overcome by making a few changes around your home, and you’ll both be happier as a result. Remember to compromise and communicate about the right type of temperature your home should have in order to avoid World War III… or a cold.
