There are few entrepreneurs in the world who are as well-known or as flamboyant as Sir Richard Branson, but there is a lot more to this man than just the fact that he is a known risk-taker and daredevil. Sir Branson is the CEO of Virgin, and this high school dropout has taken this company from a bare bones operation to one of the most recognized brands in the world. Want to know Branson's secret to success? Never stop trying, and never be afraid to take on challenges that seem out of this world. There are some lessons that all entrepreneurs can take from Sir Branson and his company, including: Don't be afraid to play with the big boys: It doesn't matter how large another company is, you should never be afraid to go to battle with the bigger companies when necessary. Sir Branson has put Virgin up against some of the biggest names in the world, including Coca Cola and British Airways, and as we all know, it hasn't hurt him or his company in the least. Remember, no matter how big a business is, there is always another business that can go one better. So why not make it yours. First and foremost, have fun with your business: If you are not enjoying what you are doing, what is the sense of having your own business? Look at Sir Branson. He is always out there having fun and doing something interesting, be it hot air ballooning around the world or starting a new business. He says that, ““What you have when you start a company is a blank canvas; you have to fill it” and he also states that “Business is never finished; it always evolves”. But, he also knows the value of having peace of mind, and knows that one should only take their business seriously enough to be a success, but not so seriously that they can't enjoy their business. Stand out from the crowd: Have you ever noticed that Sir Branson is not what one would normally think of when they think of an entrepreneur? Most people think of business people as stuffy folks sitting around wearing uncomfortable suits and making deals all day long. This is not what it is really all about. It is those who break away from this mould that are able to be truly successful, because not only do they have a successful business, they are also enjoying life. Do something that your competitors are not, and you will be rewarded. Make yourself visible: If you are always sitting behind your desk working, you are not going have the opportunity to get out there and introduce yourself to the world. To make your business successful, there are going to be all kinds of people who help you along the way, but how are you ever going to meet them if you are not getting out there in the first place? Getting out there is how you are going to network, and the more you get out and meet people, the more your network is going to expand, not only because you are meeting people, but because you are solidifying relationships and building on them. You don't see Sir Branson hiding behind a desk all day long now, do you? Why should you?
