No matter how skilled your plastic surgeon is, being anxious before your surgery is quite normal, especially when it is breast augmentation surgery. You know that the surgery is now safer and more effective with the incorporation of modern advanced technology. However, you may be concerned whether you have prepared for it well. Reputable surgeons are known for a high rate of success and you will benefit from excellent aesthetic results. To enjoy a safe and effective surgery free from stress and tension, keep in mind a few essential things highlighted below before undergoing the surgery: >> Transport arrangements It is essential to make arrangements with a friend or a close relative to take you to the hospital. Usually, the surgeon will not allow you to drive after the procedure. So always ensure that the transport arrangements are made well beforehand. >> Anti-inflammatory medicines should be avoided Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and others at least one week prior to your surgery. The guidelines given by the surgeon should be followed carefully and other drugs that may create complications after surgery should be avoided. >> Refrain from smoking Nicotine habits should be stamped out at least 15 days before the procedure. It should be noted that smoking will not be allowed 2 weeks after the surgery. This is because, with smoking, there will be a significant delay in the process of healing. >> Certain foods should be avoided You must avoid those foods which contain high levels of salicylate. These include vegetables and fruits such as blackberries, raspberries, apricots, cherries, tomatoes, prunes, garlic, wine and pickles. There is no need of major concern as this is a temporary requirement and your cravings can be satisfied as soon as you recover from the surgery. >> Certain vitamins and herbal products should be avoided Various herbal products and vitamins such as Vitamin E, Willow Bark, St. John’s Wort and Gingko Biloba should be avoided before the breast augmentation surgery. >> Drinking and eating should be avoided Avoid drinking or consuming anything before the surgery. Even water is included in this. >> Wear loose clothes on the day of the surgery Loose clothing such as a blouse or a casual button-down shirt will be perfectly suitable. Remember the above tips when going for breast augmentation surgery. During your initial consultation with your chosen plastic surgeon, he/she will discuss how to prepare for your upcoming surgery. However, depending on your overall health status and particular requirements, some more relevant advice may be provided by the plastic surgeon.
