Sometimes, we tend to overdo our packing because we think that a few things are way too necessary to be left behind. It is all fine if you are going for a road trip in a car, in a train, or flying to a destination. We can always pack a few or many redundant things that we use at home. However, a backpacking trip and a trekking trip are different from other vacations. You have to keep your luggage light and keep in mind things you should not take.

The idea of trekking

If you have opted for trekking, it signifies that you are there to challenger yourself to survive under challenging situations. You have to learn to manage things with minimum resources, which is a great learning experience. You might take a Car Hire Mumbaito reach the base camp of your trekking expedition, but you have to manage with just one backpack after that for a day or more. If you are using public transport to travel, you better read this guide to understand the concept of minimal packing.

Keep the frivolous items away

The thumb rule of packing for a trekking trip is that your bag must appear like a survival kit when you throw out unnecessary things. Shaving kit, makeup kit, matching clothes, etc. are not the things that you will need when you have to just survive. It is okay not to maintain high fashion on high altitudes.

Trekking in a group

The best part of traveling and trekking with family or friends is that you can distribute the things among different people. One member may carry toiletries for everyone else in the group, and someone else may carry medicines for others. Carrying water is a big pain on the trek, but you cannot help it. Carry a moderate amount of water, a liter or two at the max, while you trek. You may have to buy some more water on the mountain top, if available, but it is absolutely fine. At least paying an additional amount of better than breaking your back while hiking.

Substituting things

A few things are great to play the double role of your requirements. You may use a face wash to wash your hands as well. Similarly, you can use a toilet roll to clean your hands after meal; you don’t need to carry extra tissue papers for it. Pack clothes that you can pair with a couple of pants. Carry a lightweight towel, rather than a heavy one.

Carrying food

Many first-time trekkers tend to carry several energy bars, a big box of dried-fruits, and beverages. You must refrain from carrying too much of snacks of food because most trekking trails nowadays have shopkeepers selling things. You can take a break at these places and have something healthy, rather than saddling yourself with excessive stuff. Again, paying an additional amount is better than a painful journey. Moreover, trekking guide groups often have their kitchen installed on the mountaintop, so you can be assured of your food when you reach there.

Electronic gadgets

Unless you are a passionate photographer, you don’t need to carry photography equipment. You will be ruining the purpose of trekking if you take along Bluetooth speakers, iPad, or laptop. Indulge in the breathtaking beauty of the mountains rather than those city-life gadgets.

Emergency cloths and footwear

It is good to pack clothes for rains or cold weather, if there is even a slight possibility for it. Although you must wear a sturdy pair of shoes, you can still pack an extra pair of lightweight and foldable shoes if you are not sure of the quality of your footwear.
