This Diwali- Let your home be lightened

After tremendous war and victory against Raavan- the demon king and followed by completing the exile of 14 years; happy days in Ayodhya is back. Time when Ayodhya was lit with row of lights, glory of Ayodhya gets back- Its Deepavali, let’s celebrate. When you are grooved in the air of crackers, light, diyas and worship, let’s take you to the myth behind this celebration.
Deepavali also known as Diwali- means row of light is celebrated for the retrieval of Lord Rama back to his home with his wife Sita and younger brother Lakshman after 14 years of exile in forest(Vanvas) which was condemned by his father King Dashratha. On this happy occasion, the whole Ayodhya lit lamp on their way as well as in their homes and verandahs to cherish the happiness of their return.
The story doesn’t get over here. There are more reasons to be celebrated on this day. Apart from victory of man deity, there is a myth of woman dominance in the history of winning good over evil. In Dwapara Yuga, Lord Krishna’s wife Satyabhama killed asura Narakasura- another cruel demon who apprehended people and create catastrophe. This is the belief of celebration in South India.
Coming up more, it is also believed that on the very same day, Pandavas returned to Hastinapur after 12 years of exile. If you think this day of history is just biased to Hindu mythology, then there are more allegory in Jain, when Lord Mahavir redeemed Moksha/Nirvana on the same day. Even it was on same day, when 6th Guru of Sikhs Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji got freed from Jehangir’s imprisonment.
It is estimated that almost 12 countries all over world celebrate this festival in different ways and grandly. Let’s know some unique style of Diwali celebration in different states and countries

Odisha- Indiar
In this city, people celebrate by asking blessings from their ancestors. They jhave a belief that their ancestors live in the most visible part behind the sky and they call this ritual as ‘kaunria kathi. They burn the jute stems to invite predecessors to give blessings to their people.
Malaysiar
In Malaysia, you will find Hindu community that have come from diverse culture of India. Here they call it as Hari Diwali, they celebrate Diwali grandly by taking oil bath in the morning and celebrating by inviting their friends for meal and burn diyas and crackers.
Diyari – Sindhi Community
This community highly celebrates during Lakshmi Puja which comes before Diwali. To welcome Goddess Lakshmi to their abode they have unique rituals of worship. They clean gold and silver coins in uncooked mil and each person picks a coin and lightly taps it against their teeth with a belief that Goddess Lakshmi has come and removed the poverty. This way of celebration is called Diyari

Apart from these traditional rituals, people share sweets, tikkas on head and poojas at evening which is every familiar style. The new gen prefers to wish their dear ones with Diwali Greeting card or E-cards that keeps the far kin always closer to their reach.
