This week on Intent, we want to hear your ideas on how to be happier. What can we all do as individuals or communities to make ourselves happier? We want to hear general principles in addition to very specific action steps. We also want to hear everything in every possible subcategory of happiness that exists. Happiness in relationships, happiness in careers, happiness in exercise, happiness in eating, happiness and spirituality--you name it. After all, increasing happiness in one sector of your life tends to increase the happiness in everything else. Anyone who's been in a miserable relationship or career can attest to this. Happiness cannot be explicitly explained, only indirectly alluded to. In most cases, the sensations in our bodies are the first to tell us whether or not we are happy. We all innately know what happiness feels like. My personal biggest revelation about happiness is that happiness is a habit you consistently work at. Happy people tend to think, say and do happy things. Unhappy people tend to think, say and do unhappy things. If you get lazy in building your happiness muscles, your sadness flab starts building up pretty fast. Here are a few specific things I do to stay happy. 1. Meditating every morning and every night. 2. Using my parents' Malchese-Poodle puppy as my internal screensaver. 3. Being filthy, stinking rich. (Kidding). 4. A constant stream of YouTube videos of cute animals. Join Intent's mission this week to inspire others with ideas on how to be happier. Tag your blog posts "happiness" and we will be featuring the best happiness-related content at the end of the week. We can't wait to read your contributions!
