In the Narada Bhakti Sutra, a popular Sutra in Hindu tradition, the sage Narada shares the secrets to overcome maya. In essence, maya is the unreal that hides the Real. It is the sum total of all the illusions, glamours and projections that hide our Real Self – our Ete
al Self or God Self, also called Monad or Mighty I AM Presence.
Djwhal Khul, in the writings of Alice Bailey, calls this the “Dweller on the Threshold” that needs to be overcome before initiation can take place. We have to take at least seven initiations in an integrated and balanced way to become a kindergarte
Ascended Master, and many more to become a Planetary Realized Integrated Ascended Master. And we have to overcome this dweller or maya as a requirement.
To transcend this dweller or the unreal in order to reveal the Real, Narada, among others, gives the following advice:
1) Give up all attachments.
2) Serve God.
3) Free yourself from “I and mine.”
The secret to give up attachments is to replace attachment to worldly matters with attachment to God. As Paramahansa Yogananda said, “If you want to realize God, you must want Him like a drowning man wants air!”
All major religions speak of the importance of rendering selfless service to one another because in serving one another we are, in truth, serving God who has inca
ated through each one of us.
And lastly, the key to overcome maya and the dweller is to move from “me” to “we”. The idea of a separate self is illusion. The truth is that God/ Brahma/ Allah/ Dharmakaya/ The I AM THAT I AM has only one Son and/or Daughter and we all share in this one Sonship and/or Daughtership of God.
This is the truth that the Integrated Ascended Master stays true to and the philosophy that he lives by.
