We have to be the luckiest people to have ever lived on this planet. Virtually, at our fingertips, we have access to all the wisdom the world has ever known. When I Googled “How much data is on the Internet?” The answer was 1,200 petabytes which is 1.2 million terabytes which is over a billion gigabytes. Whew, that's a lot of knowledge. Those of us not born with an iPad in our hand or a cell phone in our pocket are constantly amazed at all the information we have access to right in our own homes. We have available all the information necessary to improve our lives each and every day. Here are three of the millions of ways in which the Internet can enrich us.

Learn Something New

Have you always wanted to learn to play the piano? Or do you have a secret longing to speak French? Do you have an insatiable curiosity about how the planets were formed in the galaxy? Or do you want to learn how to tango? Well, turn on your computer and search away. You will find dozens if not hundreds of sites that will help you do all that and more. You can even virtually attend classes at Harvard or Yale or other institutions of higher education; listening in with the best students in the world and learning right along with them. You can earn an MBA online, finance your college, and get yourself the education you always wanted without setting foot on a college campus.

Relax, Refresh, Rejuvenate

Use the Internet to go to sleep, or meditate or just relax. This sped-up world we now inhabit sometimes seems to give us a little too many opportunities for advancement when all we want to do is simply back off and just breathe. There are so many websites and YouTube channels that offer hours and hours of soothing music, peaceful chants and guided meditations that can help you achieve a perfect night’s sleep, a calm demeanor, and peaceful dreams. Listen and let the rest of the world fall away for a bit.

Get Healthier

Whether you have a medical condition you need to understand better, a desire to improve your physique or the need to take better care of your family the internet abounds with scientific research, kitchen recipes and personal stories of how to live a healthier, happier, more vibrant life by taking better care of yourself and your loved ones. These are just a few ideas of how you can interact with the World Wide Web and use it to become a better you.

I have a new cell phone. I didn’t want a new cell phone; I was perfectly happy with my 2020 cell phone, but it wasn’t happy with me. Its connector charging port was ailing. Failing, actually, the service tech told me. And besides, it was an old phone, what did I expect? Old? This to a woman who is more than content, read “thrilled,” to wear outdated fashions just because she likes them. And would willingly keep computers way past their supposed “shelf life.” Sigh. OK, fine,
