Since aging will befall everyone, the best way to deal with it is to embrace it. These three tips will help you do just that. 1. Embrace yoga. This Eastern Oriental practice is essential to healthy aging. Why? Because it deals with inner peace and balance in life. In yoga, participants will learn to work with their bodies - perhaps for the first time in their lives. Yoga is not about being skinny and flexible to the point of being a contortionist. Rather, yoga is about striking poses designed especially to get one's core in balance and strength. Michigan Home Care clients who practice yoga work the poses as they are able to. Often, a yoga instructor will simply say: strike this pose up to where your body can perform and then just a little extra. It is not about pushing a body to the limits of pain. It is about learning what the limits of one’s own body are. Regular yoga will increase the spinal flexibility and keep muscles vibrant. Posture issues with how one sits, stands, and walk also improve. Bob Harper of the show "Biggest Loser" said yoga brings youth to people and that "you're only as young as your spine is flexible". 2. Eat Organic Food. Ridding one's body of unnecessary preservatives, additives, or other junk chemicals promotes a healthy metabolism which promotes an improved immune system, healthier organs, and weight management. While going organic will appear expensive at first, do not fret. Within 4-6 weeks your appetite will decrease which will offset the higher cost of organic food. Certain chemicals in processed foods suppress the appetite encouraging people to eat more. A healthy body will allow a natural aging process to occur. If unsure of which healthy foods to choose from, contact Michigan Hourly Home Care for a list of beneficial foods for your body. 3. Meditation. This will coincide with yoga but deserves its own place because it promotes embracing one's life in the present. Inner peace is essential to staying healthy. Meditation allows a person to regularly release unhealthy thoughts and clear out the mind and balance the spirit. With a balanced self comes a balanced way of life. Michigan Live-In Care clients benefit from this balanced lifestyle which contributed to their wellbeing and longevity. Aging does not have to mean health problems as many health problems are the result of decades of unhealthy eating and emotional behaviors. Embrace your life now and it will lead to healthy aging in mind, body and spirit.
