We often don't pay much attention to the different elements of the corporate uniform, considering that not much can be done to make our workwear more stylish or more comfortable. However, sometimes we probably do wish there were a greater array of corporate workwear options, especially in winter when discomfort from chilly and wet conditions can reach fever pitch and you're struggling to stay warm and dry without deviating too much from the restrictions of the corporate uniform wardrobe. While women have a little more opportunity to winterise their corporate uniform with decorative scarves, pashminas, knitted stockings and high boots, the corporate winter options for men may seem a little more limited, but are nonetheless important. Here are three winter garments that are essential for a stylish survival of the cooler months:
- Knitwear and Vests: Vests and other knitwear such as cardigans and v-neck jumpers or crew neck jumpers can make warming and attractive additions to the standard corporate uniform outfit. Worn under suit jackets or simply over shirts, Wool Acrylic Knit Jumpers and vests with a 50/50 blend are super warm, easy-care and acceptable in most work environments. Knitted items, that have been produced on hand knitting machines, typically feature quality dyes in rich deep tones, making them an ideal item for adding some colour to your winter work days. If knits are not your think, Softshell Vests made from polyester and spandex is water and win resistant, while being breathable and attractive when worn over shirts.
- Jackets and Coats: When your suit jacket just isn't quite enough to block out the cold, jackets and coats can be the answer to winterising your corporate uniform. Trench Jackets and trench coats with fully lined polyester, deep pockets and waist ties have the three C's for winter covered – casual, corporate and cosy. For a more tailored look suitable for indoor and out, medium weight executive style satin-lined wool, or wool and viscose blend, jackets with hidden phone pockets can be the way to go.
- Woollen Pants: Adding some 100% worsted wool pants to your corporate uniform will be particularly advantageous in winter, but the great thing about wool is that it is suitable all year round. Wool trousers have the look and feel of linen but won't crinkle and are far warmer than cotton or polyester varieties. Well tailored wool pants are perfect for the office as well as any other time you want to look your best because they pair well with corporate uniform items as well as with more casual knits and polos. Woollen pants are the ideal addition to any man's corporate uniform wardrobe, adding an element of sophistication and classic style with a fabric that is a warm, but breathable natural fibre.
