Tips for Effective Home Cleaning

There are a lot of cleaning activities that you can do to make your home sparkling clean. Some of the activities require that you have the right tools at hand. Sometimes, your cleaning handiwork is only as good as the cleaning supplies and tools you use. Let’s take a look at how you can clean your home like a trained professional, even if you are not. Dusting your home Dust collects in our homes regularly, and sometimes, it settles in those hard to find spots and places. From your bedroom through your living room to the kitchen and the bathroom, there is plenty of dust, either visible or not, that needs to be cleaned appropriately and effectively. rnPlan how you are going to dust your home. You will need several tools such as a cloth, vacuum cleaner, and synthetic duster. Use a damp cloth to dust all the furniture. Start from one end of the room and make your way to the other end. Wipe the visible and invisible parts of the furniture. Try to reach those hard to reach places and wipe them thoroughly. A lot of dust may collect there. rnDo not forget to wipe the stairs, ceilings and wall paintings. Use a damp cloth to clean kitchen cabinets. You may need to empty your cabinets before you start wiping. You can use the required detergents to clean wall tiles, sink and countertops. You can go on to scrub the floor. rnThe bathroom(s) should not be left out as well. Employ a sponge to get rid of stains and dirt on wall tiles. Clean the cabinets and the tub/shower area. In the bedroom, dust all your furniture one by one. Use a vacuum cleaner to dust your mattress. Replace your blankets and sheets with clean ones. Vacuum the carpet. Cleaning the windows You need a mop, a bucket, a microfiber cloth and window cleaning detergent to effectively clean your windows and give them a shiny sparkle. Fill your bucket with cold water and add a decent amount of detergent. Wet your mop in the bucket and gently rub the window until the dirt is removed. Use a cloth or old towel to remove water from the window. Clean the window edges using a microfiber cloth. rnIf there are any hard-to-remove spots or marks on the window, directly apply the detergent on them and rub using the micro-fiber cloth. Sweeping Before you start sweeping, you need to find a broom that is great for the task at hand. The type of broom you use may depend on the floor surface and the areas that you want to reach. If possible, clear out the room or area by removing furniture or other obstacles such as toys, shoes or anything. rnStart sweeping in one corner, making sure that the broom reaches the corner angles. Sweep in overlapping strokes. Sweep every inch of the floor. Gather the debris or dirt in one pile. Using a brush, collect the pile into a dustpan. Make sure that there is no line of dirt under the dustpan rim. Do not forget to deposit the dirt in the trash. Mopping the floor Fill your bucket with water and add a few drops of detergent. Wet your mop in the bucket and wring it until it is damp. Apply some pressure and move your mop from left to right. Mop towards the door and dampen your mop if it becomes dry. For dirt that is hard to remove, apply detergent to it and mop with increased pressure. No person or pet should be allowed on the floor until it has completely dried. rnCleaning is not really a tough job. It requires the right tools, detergents and some bit of time. You need to plan your cleaning accordingly and make sure that you leave no stone unturned. Sometimes, it may even be necessary to make a checklist of what you are going to do.
