Tips for Re-inventing a Life Worth Living

Does September remind you of going to school so long (or perhaps not so long) ago? Every September I feel like it’s time to get down to business, and I reinvent my life, in large and small ways. Reinventing oneself is an act of courage as well as of inspiration, usually inspired by a resounding life event. People re-invent themselves because they want something else; they want a Life Worth Living!

Radical self-re-invention is something that can take the “re-inventor” many places that they wouldn’t have necessarily thought of on their own. That is because the Universe is alive and magical! It wants to give you what you want, and often with a wonderful twist. For instance, my dear husband Dave and I have separated; a sad event in many ways. I needed something different, but I would never have thought that I’d be living on a boat right now, and I'm a psychic! I know stuff! The Universe gives you better than what you're asking for, if you let it. The sailboat home is quite a new reality for me, and not at all unpleasant! I was having a fit of unbridled gratitude yesterday and today, in the morning, as I sat outside on the deck, painting, being with the boats, the water and the seagulls.

Tips for Re-inventing a Life Worth Living:

Check in – meditater
What is it that your heart really wants? Listen!
Do an energetic check in – ask yourself what it would be like if you… (fill in the blank) Does it feel good? Bad? Neutral?
Take time to enjoy yourself and do what you love, even if only for a couple of hours a week.
Remind yourself that it’s your life, not someone else’s. How do you want to live it – really?
Start taking steps toward that thing, no matter what it is. Give yourself permission to have it.
Stop beating yourself up with what others may or may not think of you!
Get support in your transition.
Be courageous! You can do this!
