The summer months are approaching. That means different things to different people. For surfers, it’s time to hit the waves. For kids, the amount of homework on the desk disappears. For concertgoers, the festival circuit awaits them. For RV travelers, it’s the most wonderful time of the year: Time to hit the road. Thousands and thousands of Americans take the road in RVs every summer to explore the vast American terrain. The sale of RVs increased in both 2010 and 2011, the first time the industry has seen an increase since the middle of the last decade. Yet not everyone that would like an RV has one. They still remain an expensive machine. Even on the low end, a Class A vehicle can cost somewhere around $50,000 to purchase. Because of this, many families are taking to renting their RVs for their summer trips. It’s a growing trend. But many of these families don’t really know what precisely to take into consideration when renting an RV. Here are some tips. Before renting your RV, plan out your trip fairly carefully. Map out your route, calculate the approximate mileage and then research the gas prices of the states you will be passing through. This will determine what kind of fuel efficiency your rental will need to provide. It’s also best to map out your trip because the rental dealer will ask you on what day you plan to return the vehicle. So after you have planned your trip, add five days to it. This not only allows for a cushion should the vehicle breakdown or due to a medical emergency, but it also allows you to stay in one destination a little bit longer should you decide that you really like it. Next comes the process of actually choosing the RV you would like to rent. Don’t pick just one rental place and stick with it; give yourself some freedom and explore the options of several rental dealers. Take this opportunity to compare prices and learn about each individual dealer’s insurance policies. Most rental places will have different rates depending on the length of the trip, so bear that in mind. Most dealers will let you inspect the insides of the RV, so take advantage of this kindness. Remember, you are going to be living in this vehicle during your road trip; make sure it’s a comfortable shelter. It’s also best to locate the other depots the rental company is partnered with. Find out if any of these depots are on your route, because you never know when the vehicle may require a little maintenance. If at all possible, book your RV early. Like I said prior, the RV rental industry is experiencing growth right now. Many consumers have fallen in love with an RV on the lot, held on booking it until the last minute, only to find that that RV is no longer on the market. If your trip is during the winter months, this scenario is a little less likely. But during the summer months, the busy season for the industry, book as soon as you possibly can. A summer RV road trip can provide memories that will last a lifetime, but if you want to ensure that those memories are good memories, it’s best to have the right RV. Keep these tips in mind, and you should have one fantastic trip. If you’re interested in Nevada New & Used RVs or Nevada RV dealers, check these out.
