Summer is here the long awaited season and certainly the season for those pleasurable long drives with friends and family. Or perhaps just short trips to the beach. rnWhat are you waiting for? Call up some friends, pack your tanning lotion and your favorite drink and head out to the sparkling blue ocean water. rnThe sun’s heat brings a lot of benefits. It can be a disinfectant killing mildews and fungus and dries things up in no time. However, too much of it can cause damage too. It can cause sun burns on your skin and cause wear and tear on your car too. Your car’s fluids and lubricant can dry up easily when you expose under direct sunlight. For tips on how to care for your car during extreme temperature friendly staff at any Toyota dealer is there to assist you. Doing simple car maintenance regularly is better than paying a lot of money for major car repairs later on because you have neglected to take good care of your car. My friend who has been working for an Edmonton Toyota dealer for as long as I can remember told me that I should be busy planning my summer trip rather than worrying whether my car should reach my vacation destination. rnBelow are some helpful tips from my Alberta Toyota dealer friend at on how to care and drive your car during the summer season. rnTake your car to a professional technician or car diagnostic center such as an Edmonton Toyota dealer to have it checked before you take your car for a long drive. They can give you an accurate picture of the soundness of your car and inform you of any maintenance or repairs your car needs. rnNext thing you would want to check is your tires. If you notice an uneven or bulging surface for example, have it checked if you need to replace your tire. Make sure your air conditioner is in optimum condition. Imagine driving without an aircon at very high temperature. You can get very tired easily and worse you might even suffer a heat stroke. A working air conditioner will cool and relax you while driving. rnCheck your batteries and battery cable for any fracture, rust, or mud. High temperatures shorten life of a battery. If your battery is quite old or nearing the end of its warranty period considers replacing it rather than suffering a dead battery in the middle of nowhere. rnTake a look at your belt, hoses and fluids. Inspect for damaged or worn belt. Make sure there is a correct amount of water and coolant. If you plan on hauling lots of things during the summer, get higher viscosity motor oil. Meaning get a thick motor oil. If you’re not sure how thick your motor oil should be, ask assistance from a used Toyota Edmonton dealer, they’ll be happy to assist you. Also make sure you have the right amount of motor oil in your car. rnCheck your brakes. Make sure your brake pads are still in sound condition and not thinning out and make sure you have enough brake fluid. You know what can happen if you have a brake failure. rnLastly, always bring an emergency kit with you containing a flashlight, extra batteries, flares, ropes, cables, reflective triangle and flares. Bringing an extra battery for your cellphone will also be helpful. After you have ticked all the tips above, you are now ready to have a worry free and fun summer drive.
