I get asked this all the time “Why do I have recurring bacterial vaginosis?” You see most of us notice a problem, go to the doctor, have a quick diagnosis by the doctor, get prescribed an antibiotic, clear up your symptoms for a short time and bang get another infection. Welcome to the recurring bacterial vaginosis club, you’re not the only member by the way many women suffer needlessly.
It seems that many women think you might have a recurring yeast infection problem but once you cure bacterial vaginosis that should be it.
Actually the reason you get recurring bacterial vaginosis and candida infections usually stem from the same thing, antibiotics. The same antibiotics that cure your symptoms are also leaving you vulnerable to getting one again.
Antibiotics are great for the immediate clearing of your symptoms but it's just a matter of time before you get recurring bacterial vaginosis for some of us. I mean antibiotics are excellent at killing bacteria but they’re not picky about which ones. So they kill the "good" bacteria as well as the "bad" which doesn't leave you much defense against getting another infection, sometimes almost immediately.
The funny thing here is it's not hard to find a natural cure program and follow it. Then you won't run into this problem of killing off the "good" bacteria, you just cure bacterial vaginosis. Now let me say I had to learn that the hard way and I did the doctor thing for years before I understood that.
With antibiotics being the main reason for recurring bacterial vaginosis there are other reason that could be giving you a problem.
Smoking, new intercourse partners, perfumed soaps and douching are just a few of the things that could be causing you a problem. There is a delicate balance between the "good" bacteria and "bad" bacteria that are naturally in your body anything that upsets that balance can cause you an infection.
Having a healthy immune system and the proper balance of "good" bacteria is the best way of avoiding recurring bacterial vaginosis. If your immune system has been weakened for some reason this could also be a reason you are suffering from an infection.
Another very common mistake is to treat bacterial vaginosis like a candida infection. With an estimated 29% of women in the US suffering from bacterial vaginosis it happens often.
A candida infection and bacterial vaginosis may mimic each other in symptoms but are treated totally different. So a candida infection treatment may reduce your symptoms of bacterial vaginosis for a short period but will ultimately make it worse. Behind using antibiotics this is probably the number two cause of a recurring bacterial vaginosis. However it's not really recurring it just has never has been cured.
