The earlier times had seen the 800 numbers available to only a privileged few. These would only include corporations who had multiple phone lines. This would mostly be because they would need such a service the most. It's not like the others would not require the service, but since the service was limited, it went out to only the companies who were the most important. It used to be a symbol of status of sorts to have such a number. Today however, this situation is completely done with. Obtaining such a number has become easier and simpler. This has brought in convenience for many mid and small sized businesses. Many of such businesses are today fitted out with such numbers that enables these businesses to enjoy the many benefits of the 800 number.
The biggest advantage of an 800 number is that it helps you to project a professional image. You can do lots with an 800 number when people would take you more seriously. After all, how much you are respected and how much people take you seriously will directly affect your business. This is determined by the way that you project yourself. Therefore you need to make sure that you as business grows and is taken seriously, you need to get yourself an 800 number which would help you to present yourself better.
One of the main advantages of such a number would be that your customers can get in touch with you without being charged. This is because these numbers are toll free numbers. Therefore, customer support will always be available to the customer all the time. This is basically what a customer wants. To adjust to the growing demands of customer support, companies can have such numbers so that the customers will not be hesitant to call them in fear of charges. If there is always someone to take care of the problems that are faced by a particular product, the customer would feel more faith in that particular product. This way the customers would be more willing to buy your product. These would be the advantages for an 800 number.
The 800 number has become so popular today that the 888 and the 886 numbers have also gained wide popularity and are quickly getting used up. This is very obvious given the fact that most of the clients today can be from overseas and they would associate themselves with a company that they are not obligated to pay to for customer support.
The advantages of the 800 number will extend to the field staff. You would normally have to pay for their telephone expenses when they are on the field.
