Your heart is a very essential and a delicate organ. It is the center of who you are. It is the source of our new ideas, inspirations, and emotions, particularly the so-called love. If you get hurt, you feel pain in your heart. Moreover, your personality reflects what's inside your heart and you can find the qualities of a person within its deeper essence. It's actually a miracle organ which starts functioning as soon as 21st day of conception in the womb of the mother. If we take a look at the literal function of the heart, it is an organ that pumps blood to the body and to the lungs, day and night and without any rest. It's a sleepless organ. Every beat of your heart is actually controlled by the circulatory system. So what happens if your heart is not healthy? It will encounter problems thus, will lead you to complications. You know pretty well that having heart problems can be fatal. In view of the importance of your heart, you need to take good care of it. Love your heart so it will love you back. Your heart is more than just an organ. Although there are uncontrollable causes of having heart problems, there are still ways to prevent the occurrence of any heart issues. Here are some steps that you can take to have a healthy heart: • Engage in regular physical activity. This will burn the calories in your body and this has a tremendous effect on your heart. You can take your dog to a walk or just take the stairs instead of taking the lift. Do some household chores like vacuuming. A research has shown that overweight people who have regular exercise have a lower risk of heart disease than thin people who don't have. This goes to show that even if you are thin, you are also at risk. So be physically active! • Watch your diet. Cut down your intake of fat and salt. Eating less fat decreases the chances of developing clogged arteries. If there is less fat in the body, there is less fat to form on the artery walls. Some fat food sources include roasted pork, bacon, pork sausage, beef, and chicken. Resist the urge of eating these and not more than 30 calories should come from fat a day. • Increase your intake of healthy food items like veggies and fruits. Eating a variety of vegetables and fruits can help you control your weight and blood pressure. • Another effective way on how to prevent a heart attack is by keeping stress away. Don't let your worries ruin your heart and your life. You can do this by taking a walk or by going out with friends or family. Have fun and keep stress away. You deserve a treat once in a while. • Pay a regular visit to the doctor for health check ups. Monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol level. This will help you prevent any health problems or serious complications. Immediate medication is done once seen that you have a problem. • Quit smoking. If you smoke you have a high risk of having heart diseases. Reduce your chances and live longer. This will not only be beneficial to your heart but will also be beneficial to your overall health. • Drink plenty of water. It has many health benefits. • Manage your weight. Overweight people have bigger chances of developing heart problems and diabetes. • Drink in moderation. Too much alcohol intake is harmful to your heart. Know your limitations. Life is a matter of balancing. Find ways to relax and have fun so you can enjoy life. It's not all about making money. Your health is your wealth. Above all, you should not neglect or abuse it.
