In the recent times, the keyword researchers have understood the relevance of localization of keywords and its importance in bringing businesses at par with their counterparts using the online medium. The addition of a certain “head” or “tail” to an existing and popular keyword to target a niche market is broadly defined as the localization of keywords.

There are local businesses and even nation-wide businesses that use the benefits of localization of keywords; hence, targeting specific locations and focusing on regional search engines. In most times, local keywords are identified with the use of local regions (geographical) and even language-specific words. The localization of keywords helps you to serve a specified region for a given service than catering to needs over a wider region or a global consumer base; in case you don’t intend to do that.

The basic step involved in the process of adding “the local element” to the keywords is addition of regional keywords to the main keyphrase or “head +body” keyword. For example: if you have a main keyphrase or keyword as “internet marketing”, the simple addition of the name of city of Vancouver can convert the keyword into a regional keyword as “internet marketing Vancouver”. Therefore, it is important to add the region of your choice to the main keyword to localize it for targeting the local search engines.

The second primary step in the process involves the addition of regional keywords to most of the top ranking keywords for your business. For example: we now need to add Vancouver and for that matter other cities for your business promotion in the vicinity and within the British Columbia province such as Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, Westminster, Richmond etc. Hence, we will now have a long list of localized keywords for internet marketing such as “Internet marketing Richmond”, “Internet marketing Burnaby”, etc. Similarly, we can have other keywords for the same business such as “SEO services Vancouver”, “online marketing Vancouver”, and also “Keyword Research Vancouver” and so forth.

From the above examples it is quite clear that one promote a company’s digital marketing services in a given geographical region with the use of regional keywords to the main keyword. Lastly, one needs to understand that if people are searching for “Local Internet Marketing Vancouver”, then they are also searching on the search engines for “Vancouver Local Internet Marketing”. Therefore, it is important that one adds the regional keyword before as well as after the “head” as well as “tail” of the main keyword. One may not be able to use every keyword with the “local element” in it, but we can also add special WebPages online or write region-specific articles using the regional keywords in the keyphrases. This way, we can target the niche market and also get quality ranking on local search engines.
