Losing the weight that you packed on during your pregnancy can be an incredibly hard thing to do. Carrying a child over the course of nine months puts enough wear and tear on your body as it is, and when you add in the process of going through labour, it becomes clear why many women have a hard time losing the baby weight after the pregnancy has ended. Recovering from labour alone can take over a month, so the idea that you should be able to drop the weight within a month or two is just not realistic. There are ways that you can speed up your weight loss, but you will still have to be patient and dedicated in order to see the results that you want. A huge part of getting rid of the weight that you gained during your pregnancy is the food that you put into your body. Many women make the mistake of under-eating, thinking that if they eat less, they will lose weight. While eating less is a factor that contributes to weight loss, under-eating can be very counterproductive. When you are not giving your body enough fuel, it overcompensates and begins hoarding. When your body hoards calories, you will start to notice your weight loss plateauing. This can be fixed by eating healthy food throughout the day. Recent studies have shown that humans are supposed to eat around six small meals per day, as opposed to eating fewer larger meals. When you only eat once or twice per day and stuff yourself, your body goes into starvation mode, which is the last thing you want. When your body knows that it will be getting food on a consistent basis throughout the day, it frees up those calories to be burned for energy. When you add in moderate exercise, you are arming yourself with the two most important weapons that you can use to fight baby weight. The general medical consensus is that you should try to get at least one hour of exercise for five days out of the week, which of course may vary depending on what your doctor says. While this may seem like a lot, there are various things you can do to make it easier to fit this amount of time into your already busy schedule. Splitting up the time you spend working out by spreading it throughout the day is a great way to get your workout in without having to spend an entire hour on it at once. With exercise and a healthy diet, you will be back to your old self within a few months. As long as you stay on track and don't give up, you will achieve the results that you are looking for.
