All over the world there are people who are obsessed with their aim to lose weight. They spend thousands of dollars on weight loss pills and diet supplements, or follow diet plans that really don’t make sense. But in reality weight loss isn’t a onetime effort; it is a sustained effort and requires you to follow a disciplined lifestyle. Here are some basic tips to help you lose weight.
Eat 5-6 times in a day: Ever since I was a kid my parents enforced the ‘Eat like a King…” maxim. However there are studies to prove that it is much better to eat small meals 5-6 times in a day. This helps to speed up the metabolism and also prevents over eating.
Make Smart Choices When Eating: The idea is to use more calories than you consume. Exercise isn’t enough to lose weigh when you gorge on unhealthy and fried food. Avoiding processed food that is rich in sugar and salt, cutting down on desserts, eating plenty of raw vegetables, fruits and nuts, and grain products like bread and rice makes sense. Read the label carefully before you buy any food. Make sure that it is organic, and is low on calories. Reduced fat cheeses, plain fat free yoghurt, low fat sour cream etc. are all examples of healthy eating. Rather than frying food, it makes sense to broil, roast, or steam food. Drink plenty of water, as this makes you feel full.
Exercise for At Least Half an Hour Everyday: As earlier said, the main principle behind every exercise regime is to burn more calories than you have consumed. For instance, if you have consumed about 3500 calories of weight, you gain 0.5 kilograms of weight, to burn about 1 pound, you need to get rid of 3500 calories. When you cut 500 calories from your diet for 7 days, you stand to lose 1 pound in one week. But if you were to combine diet with exercise, you stand to lose the same amount of weight in just 3.5 days. Exercise not helps to burn fat, but also helps to maintain weight loss. In fact there are studies to prove that people who exercise regularly maintain their weight over a longer period of time.
