Tithe to Thrive!nnWas your first reaction, “Sure, tell me another one” or “Hmm, I haven’t heard about tithing in a while.”? Or, are you more like my friend who is a bright, talented and successful person, yet did not quite know what the word was? It is not surprising for most people to be a little hazy on the concept of tithing. According to Wikipedia, only 4% of Americans tithed in 2004. Tithing is commonly understood to be a compulsory obligation where one is expected to contribute 10% of their gross income to their religious venue. It is no wonder more people are not encouraged to give when they perceive tithing as a mandate.nnI would like to offer a different perspective. If I told you that regular, joyful tithing could provide you with a 200% – 1,000% return would you be curious to hear more?nnMainly, I encourage you to expand your definition of the word tithe (Pronunciation: tīth). The root meaning of the word is “tenth”, and originally tithes were paid ‘in kind’ meaning in a form other than cash. Obviously, this still means transferring something of value to another; however, in today’s world there are many different types of items that have value. To me, this could mean time, money, resources, intellectual property, material objects, etc. You get the idea. So, when presented with a philosophy of tithing ‘in kind’ you may suddenly become aware that you are tithing more than you realized. Here are some examples of how I have tithed ‘in kind’:nn• Contributing my time to being a Big Sister.n• Regularly donating belongings that no longer serve me to Goodwill,Salvation Army, or other charitable organizations.n• Giving more than is expected in business, social, and family exchanges.n• Donating cash to charities that have personal meaning for me.n• Promoting another’s business with no expectation of compensation or opportunity.n• Passing on things I have purchased and found myself not using to someone I know would be pleased to have them.n• Bartering or donating my services to people who are not yet able to afford to pay for them.n• Sharing my happiness, joy, and enthusiasm with the world in the hopes that I will positively impact someone’s day.nnI imagine you are realizing, based on this definition, that you are tithing much more than you thought you were! A fun thing that I like to do based on this definition of tithing is to maintain a log that has two columns. The first column says “The good that was brought into my life in the form of financial resources this week was:” And I list all the sources of income I had that week. Then the second column says, “Ways that I choose to give back to the world to expand everyone’s good this week are:” Choosing to use this approach enables one to feel better about giving without it feeling like a compulsory obligation, and allows the person to give in a spirit of JOY!nnNow, I know many of you are interested in the 200% – 1,000% return I previously mentioned. Yet, in order to attract that kind of return into your life based on tithing, four things must occur.n n~ First, you must give in a spirit of joy, which we covered above. n~ Secondly, you must honestly believe in the boomerang effect, which I explain below. n~ Third, you must keep your channel of receiving open by continuing to give on a consistent basis. n~ And finally, you must not be attached to receiving any return at all! In order to receive the full impact of the return, you will want to give with the intention of not caring whether you receive a return or not. nnWhen you give with Joy, Belief and just for the sake of giving, you open your channel for receiving and the universe will give back to you double, triple or one hundred times what you give out, depending on the size of your belief! If you doubt my words, I challenge you to put it to the test. Maintain your log, track what comes in, and notice after a significant period of time how much more is coming into your life than used to!nnThe Boomerang EffectnnQuantum Physics has proven that the core building block for all material things, as we know them, is energy. In the scientific world energy is equivalent to light. When two beams of light join together they become much more intense than two individual beams. We know this to be true when we look at a satellite image of the earth at night from space. The cities that have many beams of light close together show up more readily on the image than the cities where the same number of light beams are spread far apart. The energy becomes greater the more there is in close proximity to like energy. nnEverything you contribute in your tithing is also energy. (remember all material things drill down to being just energy.) Therefore, the more you send out, the more powerful the energy becomes, and the greater opportunity it has to team up with similar energy so that it can grow and flow. nnFor example, money, as energy will flow to the places that are in harmony with its vibrational level. That is why we will want to eliminate our attachment to whether the energy we send out will come back to us or not, because by concerning ourselves with it, we are sending out a vibration that is not in alignment with the vibration of the energy, and thus we end up repelling it. I heard a statement recently, “Money goes where energy flows”. If you want money to come back to you, it is important to constantly create a flow of energy and you can do that through tithing. This is the boomerang effect, what you send out comes back to you multiplied. nnRemember, you will want to give in a spirit of joy, believe that the energy you are sending out is growing and coming back to you multiplied, keep your channel open by giving on a consistent basis, and keep your vibration in alignment with the energy you desire to attract by not expecting anything in return! This is how you Thrive by Tithing. Practice it and I would love to hear your results!n
