When starting out in internet marketing, there are a few things you need to learn about before making your first move. With the internet scene, knowledge is power, and power is everything. Naturally as humans when we see something we aren't sure of, we shy away from it, as the area seems mysterious and scary. Yet when that area is explained to us, we feel much safer in it's environment, and realise knowledge conquers all. So with that said, in internet marketing, you need to acquire some skills first, and to understand how the internet works in order to begin your online journey. There are two main things you need in order to own a website business. The first thing is a domain name. What is a domain name? I'll tell you, a domain name is the address at which your website can be found, just like your home address, yet this is a digital one. So for example, if you owned a gardening website, it's address could be, 'www.gardeninginformation.com'. Everything that is on the internet has a domain, and it can also be called a URL. If you were to look at the top of the browser now you'd see the address or URL of this webpage. But a domain name is needed in order for you to own your own website. The second thing you need is web hosting. Web hosting is what allows your website to be visible to the world. You will sign up to a hosting company, and upload your website to them, then they will take your files and put them on the internet, this may sound lengthy, but really it takes seconds, so don't fear! So without hosting you will own a domain name, but it would be useless until you sign up for hosting and put your website visible to the world. Once you have both of these things, you now have the main two things you need to begin your online venture. But there are still many things to learn, if it were this simple, people would be able to make a great business with hardly and know how whatsoever. Sadly, it's not the case, you have to learn some marketing and online business skills in order to succeed, but don't view this as boring or an irritation, see it as an opportunity to gain more knowledge of how things work. Remember, knowledge is power. seo is a term which is thrown around all the time in the internet marketing world. It stands for, 'Search Engine Optimization'. The power of optimizing your website for search engines will bring you vast amounts of free visitors and bring in many sales. However there are again some skills you have to learn in order to perform this task. There are many companies which offer a fantastic SEO service for online business', and they can take care of the whole thing for you! Leaving you free to take care of customer service and maintaining the website.
