If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes. Andrew Carnegier
My Dear Friend,
If reducing weight is one of you near future goals, I’ll be happy to help you to achieve it. These ten tips will organize your thoughts and take you closer to results.
1. Think about “reducing” weight oppose to “losing” it! If you lose something you can find it one day, cant you? I hope you don’t want it. Your purpose is to “lose weight forever” and never “find it” again, right?
2. Take responsibility for your decision. Once you decided to go for it, do whatever it takes and don’t give up!
3. Think seriously about hidden reasons which caused you to be overweight in the first place. Was it family habits or low self esteem? Maybe you just don’t know which food is healthier. Whatever it is, you need to figure it out. Admit to it and then start working on fixing that problem first.
4. Have a clear goal in mind. Thinking something like “It would be good to reduce several pounds by Christmas” doesn’t help and doesn’t work. Your real goal should be: ï Clearrnï Specific and measurablernï Achievablernï Stated in a present tense rather than in a future tenser
Think about a certain number of pounds which you can reduce during a certain period of time. Promising yourself to be 10 pound less by the next week is promise to failure and also dangerous to your health.
5. Write your goals down on a fancy piece of paper and sign it.
For example:
I, _________________________(your name),
weigh 150 lb by December 25th 2011, 3pm.
Today’s date and your signature_________________

Put it on the refrigerator or on the wall where you can see it during the day.
6. Make a public commitment. If your family and friends support you, feel free to share with them what your goal is. It will help you keep your promise and it will make them proud of you when you achieve it. Having someone else on your side and moving forward together is even a better idea. It turns that lonely process into an interesting journey and brings more fun and guarantees better results.
7. Brake your big goals into several smaller goals. Losing 3 pounds a month maybe does not sounds too inspiring to you, however it means reducing 36 pounds a year! This is a really great achievement with a healthy and balanced approach.
8. Celebrate each of your achievements! Please, not with cheesecake. Maybe buying new clothes after reducing the first couple of pounds is too early, but buying a new belt will increase your desire to continue and remind you about your small victory.
9. Get rid of cloths that are too big for you immediately! Remember, since you are not going to find your weight again you don’t need them anymore. As soon as you become one size less, take those big clothes out of your closet. Donate them, throw them away, even burn them - but never keep them.
10. Visualize yourself being a smaller size and feeling elegant and attractive. Imagine how you FEEL buying new clothes. Imagine choosing new styles and colors. Remember this feeling and let it inspire you.
It is important to know that you have made an important life changing decision. By achieving your goals and getting healthy you are changing a great deal of other things in your life as well. Your self-image, your self-esteem, and a well balanced successful life. I wish you to achieve everything you want and remember that I am here and on your side.
With respect to You and Your goals,
Dr. Irina
