Qi is the Chinese word for the “Bio-Electric Energy” that flows to and through you, the Heavens, and the Earth. It is the “Energy of Life.” Every day you can feel and sense the energy of the Universe, the Earth and yourself. Knowing how balance your qi, create an abundance of qi, and maintain a smooth flow of qi are crucial to feeling good and improving your health.
It is qi that creates and maintains your health through its careful management. Loss of balance, insufficient quantity and stagnation of the flow of qi very often results in an acute illness which if left untreated can lead to chronic sickness and perhaps even death.
1. Relieve Your Stress - Today's fast-paced society and workplace environments can place your body, mind and spirit in situations that cause severe chronic stress. Chronic stress has been shown to cause significant damage to your body which can be alleviated through the use of qigong. Stress can cause digestive disorders, prevent weight loss, cause weight gain, result in sleep disorders and much more. Qigong exercises can be used to activate your body's relaxation response and reduce stress.
2. Balance Your Energy - Whether it is cosmic activities, weather, people, business or society – every energy field attempts to stay in balance, to stay in its “logical order of things.” When it becomes unbalanced it will strive to re-balance itself. You can learn simple qigong exercises that will promote the balance of qi within yourself as well as with the qi of the Earth and the Universe.
3. Generate Abundant Energy - Have you ever felt low on energy during the day? Do you experience that mid-afte
oon slump or the post-dinner sleepiness? Your body’s center, called the dantian, is the location from which your energy, is accumulated and dispersed. Whenever you are lacking in energy you can easily create more qi abundance using qigong exercises that focus on the dantian.
4. Increase Energy Flow - The flow of energy throughout your body, mind and spirit is paramount to improved health and feeling good. Any stagnation in the flow of qi can result in acute disorders and if not treated can eventually lead to chronic disorders. Qigong exercises have been developed to promote the flow of qi. As you breathe and move during the exercise the stimulation removes blockages and restores the smooth flow of qi.
5. Treat Common Ailments - Ailments such as the common cold, diarrhea, constipation, hypertension, headache, insomnia and many others have been shown to respond well to qigong exercises designed to remove blockages and increase the flow of qi. Problems that occur in specific areas of the body such as head and face, nose and teeth, ears, chest, shoulders, back and others also respond positively to the use of qigong exercises.
6. Rejuvenate Internal Organs - Acupuncture or acupressure use needles or fingertips to stimulate acupuncture points that follow along the qi channels that flow on the surface of your body. Qigong exercises stimulate these channels and points during exercise. Qigong exercises use stretching and contracting to stimulate and promote the flow of qi through your internal organs such as the heart, spleen, liver, kidney, lung and others thus rejuvenating and supplying them with energy.
7. Increase Vitality and Longevity - Qigong is not limited to just exercises and breathing. It also includes needling, pressing, massaging, nutrition, herbs and more. Using different Chinese herbs combined in very precise ratios or recipes you can create general or very specific tonics that manipulate the flow of qi in your body. These herbal combinations may be taken in pill, capsule, tea or tonic liqueur formulations.
Daily qigong practice can be an effective noninvasive therapy for improving your health. It is effective in relieving stress, balancing your energy (mind and emotions too!), increasing your energy, removing blockages and stagnation as well as treating common ailments along with rejuvenating and increasing your overall vitality.
