Tanzania is one of the famous destinations for a safari. If you plan on going on a safari in Tanzania then you must know that there are many great destinations that you can choose from. If you have the time then you can visit all of these great destinations for the perfect safari holiday.

The Serengeti national park is one of the most famous safari destinations in Tanzania. It is wide grassland that is teeming with various animal species. Some of these animals cannot be found elsewhere in the world. The flat grassland also makes it a lot easier to spot the animals even from afar. It is home to large populations of zebras, gazelles and the wildebeest. These animals are considered prey to the big cats of Africa which are also abundant in the Serengeti.

This is a great destination for Tanzania safaris because you get to witness spectacular events that you cannot see elsewhere such as the hordes of wildebeests migrating across the grassland as they travel to a more lush grazing ground in the North. The migration occurs around April to August depending on the seasonal rain in the area. Another great event in the Serengeti is the birthing of thousands of wildebeest foals. This occurs in February or March, just before they migrate to the north. The birthing lasts for six weeks as thousands of foals are born.

The Ruaha national park is an isolated location for Tanzania safaris so there are less tourists. It is also the 2nd biggest park in Tanzania. The landscape is filled with wild fig trees and baobab trees. You will also get to see lots of lions that prey on antelopes and buffaloes in the park. There are also gazelles, elephants and many other animals in the park. The estimated population of elephants in the park is at 12,000. Migratory birds as well as local birds are also abundant at the Ruaha.

If you are going on Tanzania safaris, then you must never forget your binoculars. You must bring a good pair with you for your trip. You can use the binoculars to see the animals even from afar. You cannot expect to get really close to some of the wild animals since most of them do not like to be in close contact with humans. You can use the binoculars to get a closer look at the magnificent animals even from afar.

Lake Manyara national park is another great destination for Tanzania safaris. Here, you will get to see the rare sight of lions climbing up trees. The lions in this park spend a lot of time up in the trees instead of lying on the ground which is what lions normally do. The lions climb the trees to sleep and escape the heat during the day. The lake is also home to lots of bird species such as pelicans, cormorants, Egyptian geese, storks, quelea and flamingos. It is the perfect destination for bird enthusiasts. The park is also home to rare animal species such as the Sykes monkey and the olive baboon. Other animals in the park are elephants, hippos, antelopes, leopards and crocodiles.
