Trends in graphic design come and go faster than you can say Jack Robinson. But that constant evolution in itself is the beauty of the field. Here are some graphic design trends to look forward to in 2015.rnParallax Scrolling SitesrnParallax scrolling sites are known to be ever so popular and are poised to gain much more popularity in the year 2015. This technique was resulted from the multiplane camera technique which was used in traditional animation. What actually made it parallax scrolling sites a household name was 2D video games and computer graphics, an example of which is the 1982 arcade game –Moon Patrol. As vintage as that example might be, it is a great one that shows how parallax scrolling sites have been around for more than 3 decades and is still going strong.rnGenerative DesignrnGenerative design, which refers to design created using computer algorithms and generative software was extremely popular in 2014. Generative technologies were being extensively used by design studios such as Convivial Project in order to customize patterns based on the design preferences of the user. This shows that in 2015, technological innovation is poised to encourage uniqueness and self-expression rather than hamper creativity in graphic design.rnFull Screen Background Videos & ImagesrnOne major design trend in 2014 was full screen background video and images. One perfect example of a seamless full screen video is airbnb.com, which allows visitors to travel to different cities around the world, through living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms by mobile home, canoe or boat. This was done through a series of short videos which was directed to immerse the user in the brand experience and offer it like no other peer site did.rnSVG Icons & Images One more graphic design trend to keep in mind for 2015 is the use of scalable vector graphics (SVG) icons and images. This is an XML based vector image format which all browsers support, except Android < v3 and IE < v9. What this means is that designers create a vector image in a program like Inkscape and save it as SVG code as opposed to a .jpg or .png file. When the designer has placed the icon or image where it is intended to be, the code will be read by the browser and the icon or image will subsequently be displayed. There are many great thing about SVG graphics, such as they retain their quality even when resized or zoomed, they can be printed at any resolution without compromising quality, every attribute and element in an SVG file can be animated etc.rnGaming ArtworkrnGaming apps are extremely popular with people of all ages and of all genders. Therefore it is not a surprising fact that gaming aesthetics are shifting into a new direction. Instead of fast-paced, high-adrenaline graphics, games that have a more relaxing, ethereal, and dreamlike landscapes seem to work. A great example for this is Lands End by usTwo, created especially for the Samsung Gear VR/ and the Oculus Rift, which allows gamers to take a dreamlike day trip to the intricacies of the mind.rnRetro Will Be Back With A BangrnOld-school is back and it is back with a bang. Vintage, retro, whatever you want to call it, it seems to have been a huge influence in 2014 and is predicted to be an even bigger one in 2015. Don’t think 50’s and 60’s though, because retro graphic design is poised to focus more on elements form the 80’s and 90’s like iconic brand motifs and early computer graphics.
