Management is all but a Brain Game... The companies expect nothing but smart working people who are intelligent enough to give innovative ideas which are practically possible to execute. rnWhen any company hires MBA's, they expect someone who is suave, a smart thinker, a good communicator, an excellent planner, organizer and a precise time management expert. In short, the industry in general looks for a magician who will utilize his knowledge, academic as well as people skills to somehow arrive at brilliant solutions to perplexing problems which result in everything falling into place. To be able to do this, everything that a person has learnt in his life; all through his/her school, college, home, society and all sorts of experiences need to be utilized. The five following points may help future MBA graduates to make the best in their first job - An Eye For Detail – be thorough in whatever work that is assigned to you. Often this does not come to many people naturally and therefore comes with experience. However by being cautious and careful this is something that can make a significant difference how you will be perceived in the organization. Problem Solving skills – companies are looking for people who are problem solvers and not a problem themselves. As a fresher there are many occasions when you might face bottlenecks in your work or problems that you might not be sure of how to address. When faced with a problem, try to generate options in terms of how this problem could best be solved. Communicate your problem to your peers and colleagues and seek help. The situation may worsen when you ignore the problem, hide it from others or sit over it without actually doing anything about it. The simplest mantra,when in problem,talk about it! rnAwareness about Business – Keep a track of companies in the sector you are interested in working. For example, if telecom sector interests you, read as much as you can about the same and develop an insight into the facts and figures about the sector. Business awareness can be a big differentiator that will distinguish you from other candidates in the job market. When appearing for interviews try to do complete research about the company where you are appearing for interview so that you can add more value to your answers by offering some data and figures. Leadership- While as fresher you might not get an opportunity to take CEO level of decisions; however this does not mean you cannot demonstrate leadership in your job. Small acts of day-to-day life in your organization can determine whether you are leader or not. Always be ready to walk that extra mile, do something extra that over and above your role and expectations and you will create an image of leader in the making. rnLearning from Superiors – Your seniors at the organization are the best people to learn from. Identify the problem solvers and risk takers in your organization and observe their working style. They may also understand your strength and potential and the learning that follows from this is vital to groom you for bigger tasks and assignments.  rnExpectations have anyways, gone up manifold today across industry and levels of professionals. More so for MBAs who have a certain accomplished expectation tagged along with them which everyone wants to capitalize and boast at the same time that such kind of people are working with them. So the package deal now comprises of expectation in terms of responsibilities, contributions to the organization and its philosophy, business development, relationship management, and overall business growth. You as fresh MBA’s are expected to be the front runners of the industry and carry the baton of the company and be the face of the organization.
