Promoting a small business can be a daunting task, especially with a limited budget associated with emerging markets. Investing in online advertising can be incredibly costly and does not necessarily guarantee a return. Online promotion also depends on the quality and accessibility to your website, producing a professional and functional website can prove incredibly hard for people with limited web design experience, and proves expensive for those who want to have a site designed for them. This can also be expensive and not as effective as other methods of promotion. Trinkets, gadgets and promotional items that are free can be a great way of being promoted. In this article I will attempt to explore the options that are available to small businesses in terms of cheap and effective promotion. Branding everyday items can prove to be an incredibly effective form of marketing. The fact that these items are constantly in view of the public and consumers in their natural habit contribute towards their staying power. Items like lanyards, coffee mugs, pens and mouse pads can be cheap to produce in terms of printing and produce an incredibly valuable long lasting form of brand promotion and awareness. So why would this be a good idea? Printing your brand clearly and visibly turns this long lasting item into a billboard for your product that is visible from everywhere it travels, they also have many applications and ways of distributing to the public, as they actually have a clear usage, the public will gladly take them off your hands. They could be handed out as part of a product delivery in a complimentary fashion, they could be given away for free at expos and business conventions, once word of mouth spreads, and you’ll probably get a considerable increase in visitors to your stand at the expo too! Despite it seeming to be an unconventional method of product promotion it has proven to be incredibly effective in the past for companies that were interested in finding out of the box methods of getting their products out there. All in all, small businesses in nature need to increase their product visibility and awareness of their brand. This can be done by such unorthodox methods, sports direct have already seen a huge boost in sales ever since they released their printed mugs that come in a size that is usually unseen in normal coffee mugs. I wish you the best of luck in your growing business and always be thinking outside the box in terms of how you can get your product out there.
