The windshield over the years has become integral to overall occupant protection. Yet federal regulators don't monitor windshields or any other auto part not installed as original equipment. Windshields are a particular concern. Some after market glass shops use lesser quality sealants to hold windshields in place, neglect to emphasize to their customers the importance of time and temperature in assuring the glass bonds correctly. And automakers depend on the heavy pieces of laminated glass to buttress vehicle roof strength and absorb some crushing forces in rollover crashes. Prior to the manufacture of Henry Ford's Model A, Mary Anderson was granted her first patent for a window cleaning device in November of 1903. Her invention could clean snow, rain, or sleet from a windshield by using a handle inside the car.
Her goal was to improve driver vision during stormy weather. Mary Anderson invented the windshield wiper. She noticed that streetcar drivers had to open the windows of their cars when it rained in order to see, as a solution she invented a swinging arm device with a rubber blade that was operated by the driver from within the vehicle via a lever. The windshield wipers became standard equipment on all American cars by 1916.Motorcycle windshields are common ontouring motorcycles like everything else though motorcycle windshields have advantages and disadvantages. Advantageof this technology is the aerodynamics of motorcycle. They allow the air to flow evenly up and over the motorcycle. Having better aerodynamics can improve gas mileage and with the gas prices sky rocketing, any amount saved in gas is always an advantage. One advantage to having is that it blocks the wind and makes for a better and more comfortable ride. Therefore it also used to block bugs flying at the face and rocks being thrown from the vehicles in front are definitely an advantage. No one wants to drive down the highway and suddenly taste a bug or see one spaton your cheek just below your eye.
They definitely offer the advantage of better obstructionblockage. One consideration that would give the best of both worlds would be removable motorcycle windshields. This would allow you to place it on the motorcycle when going on long trips, and removeit on bad weather days, or when visibility is poor to begin with. It can add to the aerodynamics when you ride in conditions that would affect the mileage and speed, such as uphill and curving roads. Also you may consider having the windshield tinted to reduce glare and increase visibility. Be careful how tintedyou have the windshield though, because in dark conditions, it may make it hard to see if they are too dark. Glasses have anti fog coatingand you can get the same coating. Flat glasses are used to be very popular, when a car is being man made, the windscreen is carefully made and fitted. It is made with quality material and with so much precaution.
