Tourist Guide to Salou – Costa Dorada (Spain)

Salou is a beautiful holiday town which is located at a distance of fifty one miles in the south of famous Barcelona city in the region of Costa Dorada. The biggest attraction in Salou is its very fine beach with white sand called Playa Levante. This beach is one of the best in Spain in terms of both facilities and cleanliness. The Sea water here is not much wavy and remains calm most of the time which makes it favorite for the family visitors with kids as it very safe. This beach has all kinds of best facilities including bars, shades, sun beds, life guards and the first aid facilities as well. There are other good beaches as well in Salou like Playa de Capellans which is small beach and covered by the big cliffs and Playa de Poniente which is stretched out towards the nearest Cambrils town. There is a beautiful yacht marina as well in Salou and it has all the facilities for various kinds of water sport activities like Jet and water skiing, sub aqua, kayaking and windsurfing. Passeig Jaume I, is the beautiful esplanade which is located along the side of beach and has many palm trees, gardens and flowers. Font Liuminosa is the beautiful fountain which is located nearby and the best time to visit it is evening as there is a water and light show during evening time. In the middle of the esplanade, the statue of Jaume 1 is located who was the famous King of Catalan and who also set the sail from Salou almost eight hundred years before to re-occupy Majorca from the Arabs. Torre Vella is also an important monument in Salou which was built to help protect the town from the attacks of the pirates. This watch tower is being converted into a museum which organizes many exhibitions through out the year. The Harbour Office and Old Customs House are the other attractions in Salou Location villa as both of these buildings were constructed during the 19th century and have a lot of importance in the history of the town. Church Santa Maria del Mar is also worth visiting as it was constructed during 1766 and the inner decoration of the church is worth watching. Port Aventura is the main attraction for the youngsters in Salou as it has one of the fine amusement parks of entire Europe.
