In today’s economy, cost is the biggest factor. Regardless of what type of travel you choose, plan ahead to save money. If you are thinking of what's the best alternative of traveling via air, then the best to choose among many choices is the road ways. Road tripping is ain't old fashion at all. In fact, this is the most used way of traveling in Americas and Europe. Road Tripping will also help you save money. A road trip is like a rite of passage; proof positive that one can not only arrange and carry out a vacation without their parents, but have almost complete freedom of movement at the same time. The main appeal of such a trip is that it is relatively unplanned - however, in order to get the most out of your time and money, it's best to know some basics about what you'll need for your journey. Airline tickets are more expensive if you book them close to your travel date. Even though the cost of gasoline is going down, you can find less expensive gas along the way through websites. Use a credit card for your expenses and you’ll earn travel bonuses, miles, points, or even cash back. If you are driving, stop by the nearest state welcome centers and pick up a hotel coupon book. You can save enough for extra spending money to treat your family to a nice dinner. While flying will save you time and an opportunity to earn airline miles, a general rule of thumb is if you are traveling 600 miles or less, it is probably better to drive. Despite the drop in fuel costs, airline ticket prices are still high. There are fewer flights, longer layovers, fuller flights, security lines, and baggage surcharges. Add to this cost is the transportation to and from the airport and parking! What families value most is convenience and control. Going by car offers a number of advantages over flying. You can leave on your schedule. Pack as much as you want. Today’s vehicles have innovative storage areas that can carry your extra luggage and gear. You can stop and stretch anytime. Many families use a GPS navigation unit to chart the itinerary and find places of interest, instead of rest stops. Visit a local park or other sightseeing spots. Geography and history become real for kids when they can experience it. You certainly have more and better meal options on the road. Stats be damned, there is no denying that the lure of the road is undeniable and probably eternal; it almost seems embedded in our very makeup. This is more true for some folks than others, but there is a richness to traversing the land an inch at a time that is absent from the experience of climbing into a metal canister and climbing out at your destination. Planning for a road trip is just as important as any other trip. As with all good journeys it starts with good planning and preparation.
