Kullu
Earlier known as Kulanthapitha, Kullu is a popular tourist destination in India. Isolated from the rest of the country, Kullu came into limelight under the British rule. Now-a-days, this beautiful valley is severing as a destination for travellers with different taste buds. Kullu has many attractions to offer the visitors. Scenic beauty and spiritual aura of the region make it a destination where one will love to lose oneself.
As per the earliest recorded information, history of Kullu dates back to 1st century AD. This hidden valley got the name Kulanthapitha due to its location, which means 'End of the habitable world'. Believed to be preaching place of Buddha, Kullu is spiritual and beautiful.
Places to see in Kullu
The Kullu valley is popular for its large number of temples. These are the evidences of the great devotion of the localities. Similarly, the festivals of the Kullu are the evidences of their cheerfulness and liveliness. The most popular attraction in Kullu is Raghunath Temple. Lord Ram is the presiding deity of the temple. Built in 1660 by Raja Jagat Singh, the establishment of temple was an act of remorse. Jagannathi Devi Temple is another attraction of the region. Tourists visiting the land also visit Vaishno Devi Temple, Katrain, Naggar, Kasol and Manikaran.
Dussehra and Holi are the two festivals during which the localities paint the town red. Colourful celebration and the joyful environment of the region can easily take anyone's heart away.
Manali
Manali is around 40 km away from Kullu. Noted for its breath-taking views, the destination allures a large number of domestic as well as international tourists. The region withstands the picture of perfect scenic location. Snow-capped peaks, Deodar and Pine trees, Beas river and fruit orchards provide a fairy-tale view. Manali is a perfect region to spend a quality time and to enjoy the blessings of the mother nature. Be it adventure enthusiasts, beauty admirers or honeymooners, Manali is serving for all.
According to the legends, the valley was a home to nomadic hunters, popularly known as 'Rakshas'. The second arrival was of shepherds. Arrived form the Kangra Valley, these shepherds started agriculture here. Apple trees and trout here are contribution of British rule.

Manu Temple is the one of the prime attractions of Manali. Dedicated to Manu, the temple is in old Manali. Vashisth is another attraction of the region and is popular for its hot springs. The region also has different temples of sage Vashisth and Lord Rama. Monasteries are the latest addition in Manali. The region is loaded with attractions that are amazing and worth visiting.
Tourists visiting Manali also ensure their visit to Jagatsukh, Arjun caves, Solang Valley and Rohtang pass.
