Please keep in mind the following tips to make your travel through the airport as quick and calm as possible. Take out and separate oversized electronics such as the laptops, full-size video game consoles, video cameras and etc. from your carry-on for proper screening. You will need to remove large electronics from your carry-on baggage at the checkpoint for distinct X-ray screening. Unless you know specific guidelines, small electronics including smartphones, tablets and certain other mobile/portable electronic devices, can stay in your carry-on baggage. Prepare a 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag of liquids before arriving at the airport. Pack all coats and jackets in checked luggage when possible. All coats and jackets must undergo the X-ray machine. Do not wrap gifts. If security officers need to check out a package, they may have to unwrap it. Don’t wrap gifts until you reach your final endpoint. Film. You need to pack undeveloped film in your carry-on luggage. If you have film that is quicker than 800-speed, tell a TSA officer who will manually check the film rather than placing it through the X-ray. When in hesitation, you must leave it. Uncertain if you can carry an item through the checkpoint? Place it in your checked luggage or leave it at home. Dress the Part If you start out an alarm during screening, the TSA officers have to check out why. They will perform additional screening to ensure that the object that set off the alarm is not a danger. Advanced Imaging Technology Before you go in an AIT machine for screening, it is highly recommend that you take away ALL items from your pockets, along with certain accessories such as your wallet, belt, keys, bulky jewelry, money and cell phone. Taking out these items will decrease the chance of extra screening after you exit the machine. Body piercings Specific metal body piercings may trigger the machines to alarm, which will cause added screening. If this happens, you may be questioned to take out your body piercing in isolated as a substitute to a pat-down search. Head coverings Travelers and passengers are permitted to wear head coverings and spiritual outfits during the screening process. They may have added screening if the headwear or clothing is loose fitting or big enough to keep banned items. Shoes You need to remover your shoes before screening. Put them straight on the belt to go through the X-ray machine rather than in a bin with other stuffs. It is safe, stress-free and gives officers a good look. You must tell a security officer if you are incapable of removing your shoes because of a medical condition, disability or a prosthetic device. The security officer will give you extra screening that comprises a visual and physical examination. Have the Following Ready Present the following documents to a TSA officer at the checkpoint: Boarding pass Acceptable Identification If you don’t have ID either it’s stolen, lost, etc., you will need to give the security officer information that will help prove your identity. You must allocate additional time since this delay the screening process and will cause added screening. In addition, children don’t have to show proof of identity.
