Traveling to India
Traveling to Indiar
Let's escape to India, the colorful country of Gandhi. This territory, clinging to the mountains of Nepal and plunging into the Arabian seas, the Laquedives, and the Bay of Bengal, welcomes on its soil more than a billion people, or one fifth of the world population.
When you disembark in New Delhi, you are embarked in an abundant atmosphere of colors, smells, sounds… In short, a fiery city with architectural attractions. The discovery of the old city of Delhi with Jama Masjid, the largest mosque of the Indian subcontinent, strolls in the alleys, the picturesque bazaar of Chandni Chowk ... will be inevitable of this city.
A little further south, visit Jodhpur, the explosive blue city. Its fortress with walls overwhelming by its height has withstood many assaults and dominates the birth of the desert of Thor.
Going downhill again, we arrive at Bombay, located on the shores of the Arabian Sea, rich in numerous sites, the caves of Elephant Island, shrines dedicated to Shiva with breathtaking sculptures and wall walls. In the extreme north of the country, lies Leh, at an altitude of 3,500 m, with, among other things, a visit to the Spituk monastery, the Phyang monastery, the Stok palace, a visit to the village and the Tibetan refugee camp at Choglamsar… . You will also tread the soil of other cities such as Tiruchirappalli or Trichy, Mahabalipuram, Kumbakonam, Kanchipuram or even Udaipur which has the distinction of being surrounded by three lakes.
Beyond the cities you will have the opportunity to visit Lamayuru, the oldest Tibetan monastery in Ladakh, where meditation and spirituality will impose themselves on you with ease. Discover Tanjore and its Brihadesvara temple, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Without forgetting the national park of Periyar, intended to protect the tigers, while sheltering bison antelopes, sambars, monkeys…, and accommodating an artificial lake extending to Tamil Nadu.
India is a country where poverty is glaring, but the population has this innate wealth which is seen in all the benevolent smiles you will come across.
Prepare your trip to Indiar
When to go to India?
The Indian year is divided into three major seasons. The dreaded monsoon, summer and winter. The latter takes place from mid-November to March, and it is undoubtedly the best time to travel in most of the country, obviously excluding the reliefs of the Himalayas. You will enjoy the mild temperatures essential for visiting Indian cities. If however your trip takes you to the mountains and the region of Leh, we advise you the summer months, so as not to suffer the harsh climate.
