Eczema treatment tips Sadly, there is no magic bullet or one-size-fits all cure for eczema. But there are a few things every eczema patient can do to keep eczema under control. Below are a few tips for treating eczema naturally that may help you find much needed relief. Keep the skin hydrated from the inside out. Any person with eczema most likely realizes the importance of keeping the skin moisturized externally, but what about internally? Drinking plenty of water helps to hydrate and retain the skin's moisture. Generally anyone should be consuming a minimum of 8 cups of water a day. The best way to determine the amount of water sufficient for you is by drinking half of your weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 120 lbs., then you want to drink a minimum of 60 ounces of water a day. Increase the bacteria. Good bacteria that is. Friendly microorganisms known as flora live in the gastrointestinal tract and fight against bad bacterial overgrowth. By keeping the bad guys in check, the micro flora helps strengthen the digestive tract and the immune system. A great way of making sure you have enough good flora is by ingesting probiotics. Probiotics come in many forms, mainly in yogurt, kefir, and capsules. Taking probiotics everyday ensures that your immune systems stays in tip-top shape which may help reduce or eliminate eczema symptoms. Take your vitamins. Sometimes, eczema is a manifestation of lacking nutrients, so taking a daily multivitamin is a good idea. Other natural supplements such as vitamins C and E helps the skin's overall health by repairing damaged cells. Virgin coconut oil is another great supplement that can be taken internally and applied externally; this natural oil has a great moisturizing effect on the skin. Manage Stress. Stress is a major eczema instigator and may be affecting you more than you think. Manage your stress levels by taking a quiet moment to yourself each day. Do something that you enjoy: listen to relaxing music, meditate, practice yoga, do something creative. You can also inhale flower essences or use aromatherapy to lower stress levels. Make a point to take downtime everyday; you and your skin can benefit! Take oatmeal baths. Oatmeal is soothing to the skin and cheap. Treat yourself to a relaxing bath while alleviating itchiness by adding powdered oatmeal to your warm bath and soak each day. This is an absolutely yummy way to soothe your skin's dryness and inflammation.
