Spider veins are small, twisted blue or purple-colored veins just below the surface of your skin. These can appear on arms, legs, face, and various other parts of the body. These are caused when the veins that carry blood become damaged and are unable to circulate blood properly.  Spider veins can sometimes cause pain. However, they are not a threat to your health. Most people who have spider veins get them removed because of aesthetic reasons rather than health concerns. If you wish to remove them for cosmetic reasons or causing discomfort, there are various treatment options for spider veins in Warner Robins that you can opt. for.  Treatment options for spider veins:
  • Compression Stockings
Compression stockings are elastic hosiery that pressures your calves and ankles to improve blood circulation around the damaged veins and prevent additional spider veins from appearing. There are various types, sizes, and compression levels available in compression stockings. Your doctor can help you understand which size and pressure level are right for you.
  • Sclerotherapy
In sclerotherapy, the doctor injects the affected veins with medicine that irritates the veins and causes them to collapse and shrink. This procedure prevents the blood from flowing into that area and reroute through healthier veins. The injected veins fade or vanish after a few weeks of the treatment. The patient might need additional treatments for the desired outcome.
  • Laser Treatment
Laser treatment is used to treat those spider veins that are no more than 3 millimeters long and are very close to the skin's surface. The laser is used to throw a strong beam of light on the damaged veins that cause them to clot and dry up. Laser treatment is non-invasive and does not involve any injections, incisions, or damaging your skin at all. Moreover, the veins disappear almost instantly after the treatment.
  • Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT)
EVLT is a relatively new treatment for spider and varicose veins. The doctor makes an incision around the area of the affected vein and inserts a laser fiber inside it. Then, through the laser, they apply direct heat to the damaged veins, causing them to collapse. The veins usually disappear after several months or a year following the treatment.
  • Surgery
Surgery is often kept as a last resort and not recommended by doctors. Since spider veins are very small, they usually respond well to non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments. In surgery, the doctor makes minor cuts on your skin and removes the veins through them.
