Allthough themodern family often is crticised for neglecting aged parents and grand parents there is hardly any historical evidence that old people were better cared for by their familities in the past . The care of elderly people by their families is in fact very much better now than ever before. That the proportion of people above 65 who live in institutions is only about half of what it was a century ago s a piece of evidence to support this view.. The diseases that occur in old age are much the same as those that affect younger people, but the attitude of the elderly people is different. Often they believe that failing health is a natural consequences of their age and as such they don’t bother to seek help. They accept imparement in hearing , vision, hallucinations, immobility and many other conditions as inevitable, even though they might be cured or improved..Some people believe that disease is inevitable because it is God’s will and that as God has sent the disease and so He will eventually send the cure. If some consultation is done , they will be reluctant to undertake the treatments prescribed because of a feeling that it is a waste of time.It should always be emphasized to elderly people that the problems they may have are not necessarily inevitable and may be curable if they get proper and timely attention. Inflammation. Numbness , Pain etc in the joints, muscles hands, legs angles knee joints etc resulting from Rhematoid Arthritis, Osteo arthritis are problems that get resolved in a majority of cases involving elderly people by application of ayurvedic remedies. In initial stages even some of theproblems arising from Parkinson’s disease also get resolved through Ayurvedic treatments., Ageing is a normall biological process, but doctors and scientists do not fully understand what causes it. Some believe that it is the result of a gradual accumulation of abnormal body cells. The millions of cells that make the body are constantly dividing to replace cells that die.The theory is that some of the new cells do not function In the same way as those they replace. When the abnormal cells in turn divide, they produce more abnormal cells.
