Infertility is painful. Whether a couple has primary or secondary infertility, their desire for a child can be overwhelming and heartbreaking. It consumes your life, ripping apart relationships at times because of your emotions. Couples focus so intently on the desire for a child that they focus on little else. Luckily, there are real methods that those with infertility can use to have the child they dream of.

Going for a Natural Method

Most couples start with natural methods to overcome infertility. The best place to start is by asking your doctor to run a diagnostic blood panel. Thyroid issues commonly can lead to problems, even if your numbers are just slightly off. Some women swear by a fertility diet. This “diet” focuses on giving your body the best foundation and nutrients for your potential embryo. You need good quality protein sources and good fats. Here are some key points to a fertility diet. • Organic meatsrn• Whole grains, nuts and vegetables in seasonrn• Increase good fats such as olive oil, coconut oil and nuts What you eat can have a real impact on your efforts to conceive.

Clomid to Conceive

Sometimes, the problem lays with the woman. If you have trouble ovulating, many doctors prescribe Clomid to help induce ovulation. Clomid works with your body’s FSH—follicle stimulating hormone—that helps your body release an egg in hopes of fertilization. Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome increase their chances of getting pregnant when taking Clomid. On average, 50% of women getting pregnant while using Clomid; that’s pretty good odds!

Using Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

If Clomid doesn’t work for you, the next step may be to try intrauterine insemination, known as IUI. This process places sperm directly inside of the woman’s uterus, helping to encourage the fertilization process. Many couples who face infertility issues because of problems with sperm may benefit from IUI. It increases the number of sperm that end up inside of the fallopian tubes. The process increases your chances of fertilizing an egg and becoming pregnant. Intrauterine insemination is commonly used for couples with low sperm count or decreased sperm mobility. However, couples can use it if they suffer from other issues like the following: • Issues with cervical mucusrn• Cervical scar tissue • Ejaculation issues There are many reasons to consider IUI. It can increase your chances of conceiving each cycle by 20%. IUI is a cheaper alternative to getting pregnant than going to IVF. In fact, most couples try it first before taking more drastic and pricey methods. Also, IUI is fast. It only takes a few minutes in office.

Going for In Vitro Fertilization

When couples are really struggling to conceive, in vitro fertilization may be the best choice. The process is longer; the female typically has to take medications prior to the procedure to stimulate multiple eggs to grow. Then, a needle is inserted through the vagina to collect those eggs. Sperms are collected and added to the egg, outside of the womb, and fertilization takes places. Then, the doctor will place those fertilized eggs back into the uterus. There are many reasons to give IVF treatment a try. While it does tend to be more expensive, your chances are higher, depending on the infertility issues. Those couples who have tubal disease of ovulation disorders particularly benefit from IVF. Your chances of multiples do increase when using IVF, a benefit for many couples. Infertility can seem like a daunting hill to overcome, but there are ways to conceive. Having infertility issues isn’t an immediate sentence to never have children. Even though you may have to try some unconventional methods, you can still have a baby in arms with the help of a doctor.
