A loving strong relationship is built on knowing you can have confidence in your partner, it is not necessary to think of ‘spicing’ things up all the time, though romance is important.rnThese are my 7 pillars of trust and I have found them vital to any stable relationship, and over time they have been shown to improve the trust by improving the connection between the couple. 1) As I have mentioned you need to have confidence in your partner, by that I mean you should be predictable and reliable with your interactions. The common belief, that you need stir things up to keep romance alive, is not usually true. I personally think that ‘Romance’ is key, trying a new restaurant or a surprise gift are great to keep romance going. Any long term relationship needs consistency and predictability as the basis for trust. 2) Body language will trip up a relationship because if you say things and you body language do not match your words, your partner will not hear what you say, they will understand the truth about your feelings from the way you look and the tone of your voice. Match words with body language to build trust in a relationship. 3) Belief in your partners’ ability to be capable is another pillar in any relationship, without it any relationship is on the road to self destruction. If you are not able or are unwilling to accept that your partner is capable at the things they want to or have to do, then this will violate the trust in a relationship. 4) Secrets are the most corrosive thing in your relationship, because secrets will destroy any trust that relationship. Any secrets you have will be difficult to constantly hide and will prey on the trust in a relationship. 5) Needs we all have needs and preferences, in order to build a trusting relationship your must talk about each other’s needs, there should be no guesswork in any relationship. If neither of you know the others real needs, then that will lead eventually to dissatisfaction creeping into the relationship. Always talk about your and you partners needs and lay the ground rules, this will help to build trust in your relationship. 6) When you have learned your partners needs and you feel uncomfortable with certain of those needs, do not be afraid to say no. The fact that you have enough trust in your relationship to be able to talk about you needs openly is great, and by agreeing to those ground rules rust grows. 7) In order to see that love is planted deeply in your relationship, you have to dig deep in the dirt, some of the dirt you discover may cause pain. This pain must be used to help cultivate further growth of love and trust, events from the past need to be brought out into the sunshine, so they cannot be a means of any future conflict. Dealing with sometimes difficult issues helps to build trust in a relationship.
