Fallopian Tube Infection Talking about pelvic inflammatory disease or PID, it refers to an infection of the female reproductive organs and generally takes place when sexually transmitted bacteria spread from the vagina of a woman to her uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes. One of the types of pelvic inflammatory disease is described as salpingitis that causes inflammation of the fallopian tubes. The inflammation can make its effect over one tube to the other and as a result, there can be an infection in both the tubes. It is very important to treat the condition of salpingitis otherwise a woman can face a long-term complication. Tubal infection takes place due to unwarranted and excessive growth of bacteria in the fallopian tube. But one of the good things about this condition is that it can be easily treated. The fallopian tubes are important in the process of fertilization and they are termed as one of the common sources to bring infertility in women. Inflamed Fallopian Tubes During the process of fertilization, if the fallopian tubes are obstructed, they get unable in receiving the egg discharged by the ovary at the time of ovulation. The infection of fallopian tubes can be a serious issue and there can some symptoms like pain during sexual intercourse, pain in the pelvic region, pain during menstruation or ovulation, unusual bleeding between periods, nausea or vomiting, etc. If there is a presence of acute salpingitis, there is a requirement of instant medical attention and it usually appears in the shape of a course of treatment with anti-inflammatories or antibiotics. Though, in serious cases where a presence of build-up of pus or a general infection arise in the fallopian tube, there can be a requirement of surgical intervention. Fallopian Tube Infection Diagnosis There are different types of tests helpful in diagnosing the problem of salpingitis that includes a general examination. Here, the doctors check for enlarged lymph glands and localized tenderness. There can be a usage of blood test in order to ensure the count the white blood cell along with other aspects that point towards fallopian tube infection. For checking discharge and tenderness, there can be an authentication of a pelvic examination. rnA process known as laparoscopy can also be implemented to diagnose the infection of the fallopian tube. It is because in some cases there might be a requirement to view the fallopian tube by a slender instrument known as laparoscope which is inserted through abdominal incisions. One more thing is mucus swab where a smear is obtained to be cultured and inspected in the lab to recognize the type of bacteria. Infected Fallopian Tube If salpingitis is left untreated, there can be a range of complications like the infection of a sex partner. There can be chances of the woman's partner to contract the bacteria and become infected too. Along with that, the infection can make its impact over the nearby structures like uterus or ovaries. There can be a presence of an ectopic pregnancy where a blocked fallopian tube stops the fertilized egg from entering the uterus. The embryo then begins to develop inside the confined portion of the fallopian tube. There can be conditions where the fallopian tube may become distorted or scarred to such an extent that problems arise in the meeting of sperm and egg. It has been also said that nearly 15% of women having salpingitis develop an abscess where hospitalization is required. Signs Of Infection After Tubal Ligation Before moving towards any related topic, it is important to tell you something about tubal ligation. It is considered as one of the most commonly implemented surgical sterilization procedures for the female class. It is applied to prevent pregnancy on a permanent basis so that a person does not longer require any kind of birth control. All such things can only be applied when an advanced risk over the health of a person is arising. It is because tubal ligation isn't appropriate for everyone. There are some risks associated with this procedure. That's why there is a need to consult with the doctor about every important thing before indulging in such processes.
