In today’s fast-paced, high-tech world, a secure, reliable connection to the Internet is essential to all types and sizes of business. And that connection is made even more crucial when you are an organization that promises its patients life-saving treatments.

Recently, tw telecom was approached by the Be the Match Foundation. The Be the Match Foundation assists with bone marrow transplants for patients with sickle cell anemia, lymphoma, leukemia, and other illnesses. Until now, the Be the Match Foundation has performed as many as 15 transplants of bone marrow every day, for a total of 5,000 operations per year. Now the foundation has set its sights even higher, and is hoping to double the number of transplants to 30 per day, or 10,000 bone marrow transplants per year by 2015.

To achieve this goal, the Be the Match Foundation reached out to tw telecom. In a video testimonial, Be the Match’s Kyle Nelson explained that the foundation was in need of a solution rather quickly, as their current facility was running out of capacity, and they were also experiencing issues with power, cooling and heating. Nelson explained that tw telecom has given them “that reliable foundation… and peace of mind to know that someone else has that managed service that we are putting our large mission-critical systems in.”

To help Be the Match reach its new goal of 10,000 bone marrow transplants per year, tw telecom connected the organization to a local site that can offer the Be the Match Foundation with an added disaster recovery component and gained access to its invoicing and billing elements. As a result, the foundation now receives monitoring from the provider’s engineering team of experts that are stationed in its National Operations Centers – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Nelson went on to say that the Be the Match Foundation is extremely pleased with their new tw telecom service, adding, “They provided us a reliable, stable and speed to market service that we can really grow our business with.”
