When choosing an air conditioning unit, a qualified HVAC developer is helpful to assist with spending less time and energy consumption in the long term. The most widely used air conditioning units are window, split, packaged and central air conditioning.

The actual type of air conditioning unit you choose depends on a number of factors like how large the space is that will need air, energy costs in short and long term and what the installation costs. There are various types of air conditioning units available for purchase that fit a variety of situations. This is a big purchase and one that should be very carefully made with the input of a professional certified in installation and product design.

Window Air Conditioning Unit

These units sit on a window sill and all of the components of the air conditioner, including the compressor, condenser, coils and evaporator are all in one box. For single rooms, window air conditioning units are the most commonly used for cooling. In this air conditioner all the components, namely the compressor, condenser, expansion valve or coil, evaporator and cooling coil are enclosed in a single box.

Split Air Conditioning Unit

As the name suggests, split air conditioning units are comprised of outdoor and indoor units, with the separate parts of the appliance located in different places. The outdoor section holds the compressor, condenser and valves. Indoors boxes hold the evaporator and coils or fan. These units are smaller and as part of the unit can be placed outside, are more attractive for small spaces than larger units. In addition, these units are best at cooling smaller spaces; bedrooms, kitchens or individual work spaces are perfect for split units.

Air Conditioning-Packaged

In a packaged air conditioner, a choice must be made that will likely take the expertise of an HVAC designer, who can suggest the best unit to fit your needs. These units are used for larger homes or work places, and can cool more than 2-3 bedrooms at a time. The two arrangements for a package unit include all the components, namely the compressor, condenser (which can be air cooled or water cooled), expansion valve and evaporator are housed in a single box and the cooled air is blown by the through the ducts laid through various rooms. In the second arrangement, the compressor and condenser are housed in one casing. The compressed gas passes through individual units, comprised of the expansion valve and cooling coil, located in various rooms.

Central Air Conditioning System

In a central air conditioning unit, which often are used to cool large structures, houses, workplaces, hotels, gymnasiums, cinemas or medical centers, the HVAC professionals can make suggestions for models to perform effectively, and these are typically divided with element of it within and element outside.
