Clinical research is very important in the medical world since they are what make it possible for effective drugs to be developed to treat certain conditions. The research is done through clinical trials done by medical experts in research units from where they get to gather every detail about the drug from how it is absorbed into the body and interaction with other drugs and even reaction to foods and the period it takes to be completely cleared from the body.

The clinical researches take different forms depending on the drug that is in question. They could be done for newly developed drugs or for the sake of reviewing just how effective an improved drug is in combating a disease. The volunteers who take part in the research help greatly in making strides in the medical world and the trials would be practically impossible without them. There are two types of clinical researches.

Phase 1: this type of clinical research is done on healthy individuals who have volunteered to take part in the research for the drugs in question. This type of research is based on monitoring the absorption of the drug and how long it takes in the body. It is done through administering of different doses of the drug under study from where even any side effects are reviewed. Effects of food in relation to the drug absorption are also studied during this phase.

Phase II: in this type of clinical research, the study is mainly based on monitoring the results the drug has in the treatment of a certain condition or the condition that it has been developed for. It means that the volunteers used in the research will normally be suffering moderate and mild levels of the disease. The most common conditions that the drugs are tested for include high blood pressure, asthma and diabetes. The individuals take part in the research on their own free will and they are given all the advice they need on the trials so that they do not end up thinking that they will improve their conditions.

Any individual taking part in the clinical research has the right to know about the risks involved and the measures which have been put in place to make sure that no health risks will be involved. It is also the right of every individual to change his or her mind of taking the tests as soon as he feels not ready to be a volunteer.
