This week it seems my work week will be rearranged so I can support son while he is working through an ear infection and teething fevers. Am I happy about it? Not really, but ultimately my first priority beyond any reasonable doubt is my son's health and well-being.

It is somewhat out of my control how the next few days will be spent while his needs outweigh that of any type of work or productivity I am trying to achieve this week. Meetings get rearranged and priorities get seriously shuffled.

What I do have within my control is how I am going to allow myself to emotionally respond to the change of priorities I am experiencing. What it means to be able to maintain emotional balance is to be able to understand what triggers our different emotions. I know when my work schedule becomes rearranged due to outside issues that my emotional response of being frustrated can be triggered. Knowing this puts me in the position of being able to embrace my frustration and turn into a new perspective immediately to see the situation as a learning experience and, ultimately, a gift.

The lesson this week for me is to see the importance of my role in not only my son's life but all those with whom I work and co-create. Experiencing the support when calling to rearrange meetings and reading encouraging words provides strength. The re-arrangement this week allowed the opportunity for others to help me instead of me helping them. The gift I received from this experience is confirmation that I can still balance my priorities and that I am truly calling forward the right individuals to work with me and who will also support me. For all of this I am grateful to have experienced the frustration.

What unexpected experience or challenge will you be grateful for this week?

Until next time, embrace your inner wisdom.

Namaste,
Karen
