In a complete telecommunications system you have a structured system of cabling which comes along with the associated hardware to give you a holistic experience. With such a structured cabling infrastructure, you can have numerous uses and can even make available telephonic services and transmit data via a computer network. One will not have to depend on devices for this to happen. Each structured cabling has a unique set up of its own. The differences you see are for various reasons. One of the main reasons is the difference in the architectural styling of the building which requires the set up of this system. The cable and connection products that are used also vary, resulting in a difference. The reason for the cabling installation is also taken into consideration as are the types of equipment that this structured cabling will support. The configuration of a system that is already in place will also matter as will the needs of the customer and warranties one gets from the manufacturer. The means of installing a cabling connection is rather standard and this is necessary to ensure that the job is done right. The process of work that is done is extremely complex and therefore it is necessary to ensure that it has been put in the right way. There are several of benefits to this form of standardization. There is a consistency in terms of design as well as installation. One can also be sure that all the requirements as far as physical and transmission lines are concerned are met with. You will also have a way by which to look into a proposed system of expansion or change is required at a later stage. There is also a uniformity in documentation of the process. For a network that serves a rather small area such as within a building, it is known as a local area network or LAN. You will be looking at metropolitan area networks (MANs) and wide area networks (WANs) for organizations that are larger in nature. When you have a structured cabling installation taking place, you will usually find that it will give you entrance facilities as well as vertical and horizontal backbone pathways. These are supported by similar cables. You will also get horizontal pathways and cables as well as work area outlets. There will be an equipment rooms and closets for telecommunications. You will also be given the ability to cross-connect facilities and have a multi-user telecommunications outlet assemblies (MUTOA).
