Understanding Townhouse and Condo
There are different types of houses that anyone can choose. Different styles of homes can be found everywhere where it has different features and offers convenience to home buyers. Aside from single family homes or luxury home, townhouses and condo could be one of people’s choices in choosing their perfect home.
People do sometimes misunderstand between a townhouse and condominium. Though they have something in common, they still have its differences. Here are some of the things that you must understand between a townhouse and a condo.
Condominiums or condo in short is usually shared by multiple individuals who own specific part of the property. It only means that as an individual, you only share a part of the property and not the whole building. For an instance, you do not own the land where it sits on.
However, being a condo owner also means that you own such specific part of the property like hallways, roofs, etc.
In condos in east cobb ga and in any other condos, the house is usually stacked on top of the other. This means that you can have your neighbors not only beside you but also upstairs and downstairs.
In condo living, there are amenities offered such as pools, gyms, etc.
Condominiums have typically condo associations which are responsible in regulating such protocols and collect fees for necessary maintenance and repairs of the real estate. You also pay taxes directly to your unit.
Townhouses and condos are much likely the same when it comes to owning a unit. However, owning a townhouse means owning the land where your property sits on. While condo houses can be stacked on top of the other, townhouses cannot. Townhouses are usually attached by side walls to other houses. This means that you still have neighbors near your house.
Townhomes and condos can be similar when it comes to security concerns where it gives the owner a peace of mind whenever he gets to sleep at night. Another common thing is the amenities that give convenience to home owners.
Townhomes also have owner’s association which is responsible in collecting and implementing rules.
Unlike in condominiums which you pay taxes for your unit, the tax that you pay in a townhouse aside from your house is the land where it sits on.
Though these two are just some of your options in choosing the right home, it’s still important that you know the similarities and differences between them so that you won’t be misguided in the future.
